After having my new Boss plow installed last night, I asked the dealer to install a deflector on it while it was there. He said he doesn't stock them as most of his customers do not use them. Can anyone tell me the best one to get or not to bother using one at all? I have had them on all my previous Meyer plows and thought they did a pretty good job of keeping the snow from hitting the windshield but not sure on a BOSS. Thanks.

A deflector will help on any plow.I prefer the rubber vs plastic or metal as they are flexible. This prevents them from being bent or broken if you happen to hit something.

I just installed the BOSS poly shield on our 9 foot straight blade. Haven't been able to use it yet though. We'll see what happens.
We had one of the molded deflectors on our first Sno-Way and one on the first vee plow. They work very well to control the snow, BUT,,,,,,,, if you push intoa stack they end up with about a bushel of snow on top of the deflector. When you drop the plow for your next pass the snow falls off behind the blade and leaves a nice pile in the middle of a cleared area. I took the one off the straight plow after one year because I was so sick of the mess. Last spring I got some wide, thick rubber from Nate and that is going on the vee in the next few days.
On the Sno-Way, being as light as they are, the molded deflector would get lift from the snow coming up under it and lift the moldboard. Also, if you stuffed the plow into a stack the deflector would bury itself and sometimes you had to back out before you could lift the plow.
