Scroll down to the bottom of this page for the "Official" link to the Snowplowing-Contractors.com AIM chat room.

It is at the bottom of every Forum page....

www.nclsllc.com/chat.htm

Yes, please delete it. Thanks for having it until I had time to add the link here. I planned it all along, it's just a matter of fiding time to do all the little things.

I may be the only one in this situation, but what is the exact name of the chat room? You see, I use a non-AOL IMing client (gaim (http://gaim.sourceforge.net)), which cannot use standard AOL chat links. I know the program is compatable with AOL chats, it just does not work with links.

Thanks,
aleksei

I'm in the same boat- I use trillian, and it's compatible with just about every chat client out there, but when I open windows to the chat ( had to copyt the name from the link) I was the only one in there. I can jump in, if I can get the exact name of the room.

The exact name of the room is SnowplowingContractors. No space, just like that.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but why not download and install AIM?

Go to the AOL homepage, and click on the AIM icon. I use AIM and I'm not an AOL client, I have Optimum. There's no charge, just download the program.

Between here, the fire service, HAZ-MAT, EMS, etc... it's easier to use Trillian since I can link up with just about anyone no matter what they are running- one program, one login, multiple applications- KISS principle. I do have AIM on my laptop, but that's because it came with it.

If I cannot get it to work, then I will have to break down and download it.

Thanks for the info though! I'll give it a shot.

Bill,
I was never able to get Trillian to work with the chat rooms. I finally just installed all the clients. I also got sick of Trillian popping up the warnings that my clients were out of date, even though it is at the latest and greatest. Too bad really, I liked it. But to get the chat rooms to work, I had to have the AIM client installed.

Some of my friends use MSN, while others use AIM. Gaim lets me talk to both without really noticing a difference. And it's got better features than AIM :D

Rich

It's one of the things I have been working on for the past few hours. I had two choices.... Leave the Forums locked until I am done, or open them up, and work on them while everyone surfs.

I picked the second choice. Please bear with me. The pile of hair next to my chair is getting bigger and bigger..... :D

Just an FYI to make it easier.

Once in the chatroom, select "File" then "Create Shortcut".You will now have a chat room link on your desktop.Don't forget,AIM must be running for the chat room link to work.

Sorry if this gets a tad to technical, but if you want, you can put the link inline with the other links at the top (User CP, FAQ....)

Admin -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager

Since you only have one style, that's all you should see. Click the double arrows that point out. A scrolling window will open up below. Find "Navigation / Breadcrumb Templates" and double click.

Depending upon where you want to place the link, just scroll down to where you want to put it. For instance, if you want to put the link between Members List and Calendar, place the link after the Members List information.

If ya want to do that, and need some help, shoot me an e-mail :nodd dj @ djdarknez.com

I am having an issue with the chat room, any time I click on the link, I get the this page can not be displayed message. Sorry, not sure what else to do, as I am pretty computer illiterate. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You need to have AIM running and be logged in on AIM before you click the link to the chat room. You still get that same error, except a chat window will open up too. It is an AIM window....
