Jerre,

Picked up my 03-F-450 with the new 810 mounted yesterday.

Last night when I took the truck out for a drive I turned on the plowlight switch and the HIGHBEAM indicator is on. When I activate the highbeams the indicator gets brighter and the plow headlight get dim.

If I switch back to the truck light (plow light switch off) all works normal. Called my installer he was puzzled and said he would put a call in tommorow.

Figured I would check with you seeing how there are alot of guys using the "do it yourself" install.

Any help??

BTW the mount for the 810 on the F-450 is HUGE compared to the ultra-mount I removed.

Ron, there are 3 different light plugs for the 05's depending on headlight style.

If the wrong one was installed there may be a problem.

Sounds like the problem. If you have a digital camera handy ;)

Pop the hood. Take a pict of the plugs on the drivers side and pass side. Pull them up enough to see the colors on the wires from the original truck. Email them to me or call me when you can pop the hood.

Jerre

P.S. Trim the valance a little at a time. Drop it in from the top and mark for clearance, Pull and cut and repeat till you get the look you want. I honestly like them with out but to each his own.

Jerre,

Thanks so far but this is on the 03 - F-450.

The 05 F-350 oddly enough is fine.

I'll give you a call in the morning.

Thanks again.

Ron

Ron, Does the 450 have the the square headlights like the old trucks ( contractor package ) . If it does it can have two plug styles 010 connector or 051 connector.

If it has the newer style lights it can take an 011 or 012 plug.

Either one can cause the problem you are talking about.

It has the NEW JEWEL style headlights.

The installer is on the way over to my house actually to see what is wrong. Now that is service.

They just started installing Blizzard last year so I think the tech is new at it. The guy they had doing all the wiring last year is out of town for a two weeks so the iron installer is trying to learn.

Seeing how it is not snowing and there is no snow forcasted any time soon I toldhim to take his time but just to get it right. I can work with someone learning and trying to work out the bugs.

Ron, the green and yellow wires from the Blizzard harness should be on the outside of the plug with the white in the middle for most of the 03 and 04 fords. This is the 012 harness. When he checks the headlight plug ( factory ) the black wire sould match up with the white/redstripe wire.

P.S. call at the shop if he / you have questions. 814-898-2171
