Rich, congratulations! Im glad your ready for winter now.How does the Blazer carry it,and what do you think of the fit.i can see the tow hook openings were spared by bending the plastic around the plow frame. You missed a sneaky little storm that snuck up and dropped a few inches of snow that was supposed to be rain.

Looking good! :shades Like Jay said, I bet you cannot wait to use it for the first snowstorm. It wont be long now, dont worry! What model Blizzard is that, I know its not an 810!? Good luck this season. Mike :)

Drill.....Plasma.....Drill.....Plasma......Drill.. ..Plasma...
Such a tough decision....
Rich, Knew you were looking at me a little funny when I broke out the plasma. One of the holes hits the shoe mount and it has to be noched to accomidate the nut and another is right next to an existing hole. Got it out for them might as well do em all... I know some of you would get out the micrometers and the grinder to measure and drill/clean up. Doing them a while now and find the ways that work and hold up without compromise of the blade.
Jerre
Rich glad to hear you made it back safely. Take care and don't show the picts of the 8611 wagging the tail of the blazer......;)

Looks good. In the last picture, how close to the ground is it? I have some driveways that have burm at the end of them and would be a great cocern to me if I bought a blizzard.
snonut12
11-20-2004, 05:20 PM
Ouch - that cannot be too good. If it is going to be so close to the ground you might runs into some problems, such as curb, pothole, speedbump, etc. I hope you can find a way to minimize this problem. Cranking up the torsion bars probably will help, but you are going to have to crank up ALOT and that could lead to another problem. So just be careful not to crank up too much. Also be sure to get front end realigned if you want to save excessive tire wear. Otherwise its a nice plow. :D

Wow that is way to low to the ground bud your gonna have to do something i would be afraid of you even hitting a drop in the road casung you to loose control the truck, I dont think your gonna get enough thew the tbar adjustment i really dont maybe there is someone making front air shocks for the s trucks i know i got mine for the jeep threw the jeep dealer becareful!!!!!

I wonder how low that part would be on a full size gm with a 810 ?

Are you sure it was ok to install that plow on the Blazer ? (weight)

11-21-2004, 04:30 AM
Scott , are you thinking about an 810 with a new GM ? Would you go to Damian Diesel for the 810? Last year there was a rumor that Veron would become a Blizzard dealer . I dont think it happened

I did some reserch on the s truck i dont know what to say otherthan i think a susp lift would be the only way to get that clear up to a safe level i know yu put timbrems on and there not doing much to help I have installed lift kits on all the big three and the most costly is the gm because of the t- bars , even doing fords ttb front lifts takes me less time and parts are cheaper , as far has air shocks go you could take astock one and do some research on size travel etc and maybe match somethng up looking closer at the pics iam very concerned for your safty and the front end o the truck

Bill, I bought one on friday:burnout . My wife made alot of calls and found the best deal at portsmouth ford in NH. We should be getting the new truck/blade this week. I also got to try one out to day at the chevy dealer in westboro. It was mounted on a new dump along RT9. IT' ONE COOL PLOW.

I thank you all for your replys. As im looking at the pics again it looks like the lift bar isnt engaged all the way causing it to hang that low, normallyits about flush with the push bar. Because Today i mounted it up and it didnt bottom out all day pulling in and out of my driveway. But yes on a real good dip she still bottoms out.
I added Timbrens. But i haven't touched the T-bars at all. So im thinking cranking them up 2 turns and i should be alright. I dont think two turns it too much do you?? I may even take a front shock off and go to NAPA and match up a pair of air shocks, They will let me rome around behind the counter if i need to.
AS for weight i don't think its too much for that truck I think it handles it real nice the ride is nice no bounce, and there is no weight in the back ether. I think i will attend to this problem this week and i will post the turn outs.

You might just want to try some ballast in the rear 1st. About 400-500 pound might just even it out without have to do any mods.
I am sure Blizzard make a ballast to fit into the hitch.
I am really surprised is left the shop like that.

Rons last sentence describes my feeling as well. Like I said above also, no one noticed this until now?? That is really low, I cant see just turning the torsion bars up fixing that. Hope you get it solved somehow though. Good luck! Mike

11-22-2004, 03:27 AM
Rich, Rons got a good point maybe load some sand bags in the back and see for testing purpose if you gainay clearance i still think in certain situations at least around my town has bad has the roads are here your gonna smerf.

Remember the truck is on a incline in that picture. its driving down hill. Jerre and I took the truck for a drive and hit some good bumps and it didnt bottom out. So just to let you all know there is no blame on the dealer. He did what i wanted him to do. I still have the plow on the Blazer today and still hasnt bottomed out, But just to be safe i think i will turn the t-bars up a little. Thank you for all the replys keep them coming

Were the green car is that were i was pulling out of when it hit again i think the lift arm wasn't engaged all the way thats why it bottomed out because it hasn't done it again, sence i unhooked and hooked the plow back up.
76chevyman
11-22-2004, 07:17 AM
So i figure i can gain a inch or so by turning the T-bars and thats right were i want to be

Jerre Heyer
11-22-2004, 08:15 AM
Ron and Mike,
Rich already had Timbrens in the truck all the way around and the center line height of the lift assembly was well it tolerence when lifted or lowered. We discussed the torsion bars ( cheve's lift kit) but Rich is concerned with the ride of the truck. We discussed turning them up and down fall and spring also. Most cheve's need to have this done to carry any plow.
The drop on the front of the truck was in the 1" range.
The plow weights #370 + the U edge is about #30.

Thank you for the reply Jerre. I just wanted to add im am fully please with this plow and the Dealer. I couldn't ask for a better person to install my plow and do buisness with. Im sure not to many people ask to put a plow on a SUV. I know im the only one in my area with one.

Jerre and Rich, thanks for the replies. Jerre, I just want to say though that I was never second guessing your work, not that you insisted I was, but I just wanted to make that clear anyway. I can tell from all the threads and pics here on this forum that you do QUALITY work and you are a very well respected guy around here who knows his stuff. :) :) I was just a little concerned for Rich when I saw the pics of how close the mount is to the ground and in some pics, actually scraping. I couldnt help but ask, no one noticed this until now?? I am sorry if I sounded like a jerk, thats not how it meant to come out if it did. :) Mike :)

Just wanted to post what i did while i waited for the Turkey today.
I wanted to store my new plow inside so i figured the best place would be under my work bench. So i rebuilt my benchs so it spans 11' one end to the other with no other legs under it.
I then took a set of old plow shoes cut the bottoms off and welded casters on them I still have to rig up something on the plow leg but it works great.
