When I've been in the snowplowing section my screen shows a new post but when I get into the thread its an old post, one that I've read hours ago? As an example, if it says last post: 6;45PM when I click on to that post it says the last post was at 12;30pm. Its almost "ghost posting" omg or the new posts arn't showing on the threads?

Any thoughts on this :shades

So it's not just me and my firewall! I thought that possibly my security might not be allowing everything to update. At least I know I'm not alone!

I've seen that also, but I usually click "Refresh" and it seems to straighten itself out. I thought it was a setting on IE.

One possible answer - if there is a forum, or a category of forum member that requires posting validation (moderator approval), the post will show up like that. There's the smoke, but no fire, no matter where you look. Once the post is validated, you see fire.

That's just one possible answer...

Chuck would normally tell us if something like that was going on, and we haven't been told about anything like that. Is this happening to you guys every time you are here, or was this a one time thing? It happened to me one time a few days ago, with one or 2 posts. I assumed it was just a one time "glitch", and probably with my browser not the site, because it hasn't happened to me since. But seeing these posts now makes me think maybe it wasn't a one time little thing? Another possible explanation is you may have been signed on at the time a thread or post was moved to a different forum. In that case it might have shown the new post envelope in your browser, but the post or thread is now "new" to you, but in another forum. Not sure if I'm explaining that right, but I could see that process creating the event you are experiencing possibly.

I too have noticed it,but not just on this site.It happens on other VBulletin sites too.

It seems to happen more if i have multiple windows open, and it will happen with more than just one thread.I have to manually click mark all forums read to clear it.

It's not happening with polls, is it? I noticed that the polls are brought back up to the top as unread when someone casts a vote. It took me a few times to figure that one out...:headwall

It is like that with most vBulletin sites. You read a thread, and go back, by clicking "back" on your browser, and it shows in the main Forum index that there are new posts, typically listing the last new post that was in the particular forum you just read.

I can check a couple of things..... but it seems to be the norm.

Note the last new post when you go in to read a Forum. When you click back, that same post will show up as the last, and it will have a new post icon. If you see a different "last poster" then you know there are new threads.

Sometimes the "refresh" on your browser will help. Let me look into it, and try a few things.

Chuck I think I may have figured it out. It has only happened to me on the Poll threads. Wyldman's poll thread has the same problem as your poll thread has.

If its what im thinking it is it actually isnt a problem its just that someone voted on the post but they didnt leave a reply thus it resets it and sends it to the top of the list but theres no new post to read to go with it.

I have noticed it also and not just on this site most site that use vBulletin forums have a similar problem, must be something in the software.JMO

It's not just on polls, and sometimes it's more than one thread.Because it is common to most VBulletin sites,it must be something in the software.

Chuck, if what Adam's Plowing said is correct, there is a radio button to deselect that poll 'bumping' feature.

Yep, I wanted the polls I posted to get bumped. But, the rest of what I was saying holds true. Unless you "mark" a forum read, it will show new posts until the cookie times out.
