It will take you about 4-5 hours to plow it in a 2-3 inch snowfall. You will also need anywhere from a ton to 2 tons for salt, depending on conditions.

Can't help you with the hourly rates,as you will have to find out what the going rate is in your area.

Once you get that, then it's easy to calculate a seasonal price.Take the average number of 2" snowfall events in your area, times your price per 2" push.

Don't forget to add a blizzard clause.

Like Chris said, take the number of 2 inch snowfalls, probabbly 20 or so. Depends on the good old Lake Effect machine. Definately add an excessive snowfall clause to the contract in that area. As for charging well per hour for a pickup would be more profitable than per trip. If you are going to do it per trip I would make that plow wider so you are there not as long (pro-wings) .

Will they be willing to sign a multi year contract? Figure your average snow fall on the third year, charge more for a one or two year contract (figure more snow fall events) since you don't know how much it's going to snow one year to the next.

An all inclusive seasonal contract price can be risky for you since your obligated to provide a whole lot of service without knowing how much its going to snow.

How frequently will you be salting relative to plowing? Will they expect you to salt before your 2.0" trigger? If so, under what conditions? Depending on their expecations, budget and how you sell it, you might have salt to plow ratio of 2 apps to each plowing. If you get 25 pushes, that is 50 saltings.

I also figure the walks will be done once or twice more than plowing.

Lawn Lad is pretty much correct. We average 20 or so events, with 40-50 salt apps per year. This can fluctuate from year to year,so be prepared to ride it out long term if doing seasonal work.
