If your not running the Isolation Module electrical set-up,you will be after this,I deal with Fisher and the wiring is the same from Fisher to Western,i'm not posotive on the mounts,Crash935 or one of the other guys will know more about that,if you have to buy everything new your looking at around $1000(US$) in parts.

KDM....................

I am going thru the same BS swapping my 01 Ultra from my 01 2500 to my 04 2500.

The push bar swapped NO problem. The only thing I had to buy
was the truck side light harness $250...............
GM changed the darn headlights AGAIN!

BUT>>>>>>> NO dealer has one in my area. So the push bar is on, plow ready to go.....waiting for new harness to finish installation. WAS supposed to arrive this last Wed.

My Western uses the relays so all that stuff will swap also.

Dealer is charging $450 to swap and install incl. the price of the new harness. Not too bad.............

Use the Western site http://www.westernplows.com and try their plow selector thing. That should pretty much tellya what might be different!

Even better..Call the dealer.......good luck........geo:grinz

Hi I tried the western site and it only gave me the setup for an ultra mount for both trucks not the uni mount . I have to go to the dealer to get those wiring kits for the connecters i asked about last time and u so knowledgable filled me in on Ill just ask them there see if they have the info on 2005 yet . thanks
as for the ultra mount im still old school I like to put the pins in MYSELF that way I KNOW THE PINS ARE IN AND SECURE if your setup right as i am it takes no time at all you have to get out to hook up the wiring anyway thanks for the info anyway . Kirk

You may have to use the newer ultramount setup, with a uni-mount adapter to hook up to your plow.

Have you considered trading in or selling your plow and buying a new one ? The Pro-plus is way stronger than the Pro,and would come with everything you need for the new truck.

Kirk,

Just curious,....You mention that your trading up from a 1500. Why are you not looking at a 2500HD? They're not much more money, for what you get over a 1/2 ton.

I don't know what you do for a living, but GM gave me $900 for a new plow when I bought my GMC. Just have to have a legit business.

hi im not trading in turning a lease back over to them . the reason im going with a 1500 and not a 2500 is because I use the truck to drive back and forth to work 35 km each way and the cost of the gas for the bigger engine would kill me . i only plow a few driveways and 3 small lots one of which is tight and the extra lenght of the truck would make it sure hell .if i get too big of a snoww fall I go big and bring in the tractor or the skid steer and I personnally like the sporty look of the short box reg cab and im the one driving it glad to know about the dealer $$ for a new mount have to try that one see what he says . I also like to beef up the 1500 suspension it plows and rides very nice lots of toys for suspension upgrades . thanks Kirk

You should be able to re-use your old mount as long as you stay with the 1500.

You will probably have to change the vehicle harness along with the headlights to a 12 pin plug instead fo a 9 pin (trying to do this from memory, back me up here Arc). Harness number should 64077 with a 64078 headlight kit if you stay with a relay type harness.

I think he needs to scrap the relays and go Isolation Module if the 05' lights are anything like the 03/04' no?

I have the 12 pin already but ????? the relays and the isolation module now your gettin fancy with your words haha . if I have to change wiring not a problem new truck new computers thingies and you have to stay current with what u attach to the electrical loop . what I what to know is why do they have to change the fram from one year to the next if you change the body style fine but leave the frame alone . enough of my rant havent had a good day truck died at the store all systems dead got it towed to dealer after hours of coarse so me and tow driver poked around and found that the battery terminal had broken off from the actual battery the whole post part of the battery broke never seen that happn before . oh well

Well, all I have to do is "jiggle the handle" and I know I'm in tight with the ultramount. I have seen guys lose main pins on the unis- I always carried an extra, but always ended up selling it.

However, on a 1500- I'm thinking the uni-mount is going to come out a little lighter- even though at the expense of reduced strength.

Chris- Pro-Plus? on a 1500? I mean- I know you're not the wieght police, but that's a bit much, eh?

Yeah, the Pro-plus is a little heavy for a 1500.Didn't see the 1500 part originally.A 2500 would be better suited to a heavier plow.

JDM.........One thing comes to mind. GM does NOT offer VYU plow prep on the 1500 crew cab trucks.
If its not in the Western plow selector section it must be Western does not recommend that plow for your new truck. Thus no listing........................

But the dealer would know the proper truck side light harness
you will need.

Like I said your in the same boat as me. When my 04 harness comes in I will post the Western part # for ya !

The rest of your plow should bolt right on same as mine did !

Hi Im not ordering a crew cab mine is going to be a reg cab short box 1500 silverado 4x4 with the plow prep and the heavy duty suspension then I add my own toys after that
I got an email from the wonderful people at western

Thank you for contacting Western. The frame has not changed, but GM changed the electrical system in 2003, requiring a new 12 pin headlamp kit (64078) and harness kit (64077).

So this is good news so I dont have to buy a frame harness just the wiring not a problem id rather pay 400 for the wiring than 900 for the frame and the 400 for the wires that would bring into ??? new plow and sell mine . but thats next march . thanks Kirk

KDM.............ARC is correct.

My new 04 wiring required them to replace the relays with the iso. module along with a wiring harness AND new plow lights.

$733 big ones for parts and installation!

Wish I would of known ahead of time...............But have been under the weather and need the plow installed and ready to go!
So no choice...........

YEOW!...........................geo:headwall

Just remember those prices when you get ready to swap.......
I don't have the invoice handy to give exact prices but will post them if ya want !
