I'm a solo operator thinking on starting sub plowing. I have a '01 F450 PSD Dually 4X4 and a S250 w/ 2 speed and want to get 810 series plow. Which one 810 or the 810SS would be the best for me? I can only afford one this year.

I understand the 810ss can also move light soil around (2fer). The only problem with the 810 I wish they had handheld controls.

Could I get the dimensions for the 810SS (LxWxH) and weight on/off skid steer?

This and ******** are very informative for us beginners. Thank you for your help!!!

I would say you'll probably get more per hour for the 810ss if the person your working for has enough work for it. It might be nice to also have a snow bucket on site to move the big piles that the blizzard makes and could earn you even more per hour? The 450 will be a bit more practical in the sense it will transport faster form job to job but that might be something for the Contractor to worry about and not you. As to the dimensions and weights you might be able to find that on the blizzard website.

PS you might want to drop the mention to the "other" site.

btw welcome to the best source for plowing info on the web ;)

Blizzard on the truck is going to plow most places you can take the truck. The more open the lot is the faster it will get done with the truck.

On the skid loader, a box/snowpusher will be just about the same and half the price.

Welcome to the site! Where are you at in MN? IMO it depends on what you need to plow. If it is smaller parking lots or lots of backdgragging, go for the SS. If they are wide open bigger lots a truck will be the way to go IMO...

Another ? about 810SS
Dealer tells me to go with Blizzards controls due to adapting to Bobcats gets bothersome and costly. Can I get in put on this.

Keep the 810 or 810SS coming!!!!!!

If your Bobcat has the handheld control switches in it now you just need the 7 pin or 14 pin plug adapter from the Blizzard dealer to go on your bobcat. IF you cat doesn't have the hand held they are a little costly to put on but IMO well worth it.

Wouldn't an 8611 Blizzard better suit that F450. It'a not that much more money, when your spending that much change already for an 810 what's a few more pennies, LOL. I'd go with the bigest plow I could for the truck first. If needed pick up a pusher for the s250. You can always sell the pusher come spring If you don't like it, and buy the Blizzard. Used pusher are fast sellers, as there aren't to many used in good shape around.

Just ordered the 810SS w/ blizzard controls. Dealer says stop adapting into Bobcat controls due to problems. I figured their controls this year and spend summer getting adapted to Bobcats. The 810SS is a 2fer (snow/light material; winter/summer).

Thanks for your input

what is the cost of an 810SS and is it to much for a 6K lb machine 1500lb lift 60HP engine?

Paying 4200 for plow assembled and 500 for poly-edge plus tax. Plow weighs 950 lbs.

Getting mine Friday 12/03 and getting excited.
