Whats amazing is that if fired after getting tossed like a rag doll in the ocean.Incredible! Like Wyldman always said, get a mechanical injected diesel, run as little electronics as possible, and it'll run forever. If that truck had or needed any type of ecm or had efi or even an electronic diesel it'd had been dead after the sea bath. I wonder if they drained the motor oil ,and fuel tank too,i cant see how it run otherwise. That mechanic wasted no time clearing the cylinders, and priming that sucker everytime it went over,LOL. I think osme time soon the US market will finally start to get diesel powered small trucks, and more cars as they become more refined, user friendly and powerful.

Have not been available since 85. Biggest seller overseas though, especially Australia and New Zealand. I have one of the newer 1KTZE blocks and want to assemble the pieces to swap it into my pickup, just haven't had the time.
Toyota claims diesles will return in 06 or 07.

Yup,you can't beat a mechanical injection pump. :D
It looks like they didn't even bother trying the ignition switch after the first few attempts to kill the truck.Seems like he just wired open the fuel shutoff, and jumped the starter.
Any electronics would definately been hosed when subjected to any water.
I am really suprised the battery held up.The impact should have broken the plates apart internally and killed it.

These are indeed tough little trucks. The medical mission we work with in the mountains of Panema use a couple of these. They go places and do things that you'd never of with a bigger truck.
