Guys,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a good site for checking diesel fuel prices... checking the local prices...

the gas people have gasbuddy.com... and gaspricewatch.com... and a couple others probably...

but with the rising price of diesel... I am looking for a site that give diesel prices .. other than the site UpandUpandUp.com

Where I'm at, it's over 2.30 gallon. It's only going to go up, heating season is just starting.

well you can always run off road/home heating oil. Some one is pocketing money with the oil I can't belive that a few huricains caused the price to jump to over $20 a barrel.

Hey guys.

I want a diesel in the worst way. I have to wait a few more years till my truck is paid off.

I'd like to start experimenting with vegetable oil in an old vehicle, then adapt it to my future diesel 3/4 ton. I've seen a couple of web sites where guys are running veggy oil in 7.3 powerstrokes. They say there's no difference in mileage & they actually run beeter than on diesel.

I thought our 2.13 was bad:mad: Gas is only 1.88...When we bought our truck diesel was .20 cheaper than gas. But, I didn't buy a diesel pickup only to save money on fuel.

FlyingJ lists their diesel and gas prices. I know it doesn't show your other local station but it gives you an idea of what diesel is across the nation.

DON'T RUN OFF-ROAD OR HEATING OIL IN ON-ROAD VEHICLES!

The fine will put you out of business so fast you won't have to worry about the price of fuel anymore.

Maine does check, DOT supposedly has 1 truck that tours the state pulling samples from EVERY diesel vehicle. If it tests positive you're all done.

I would be terrified of having an accident and spilling colored fuel in the snow, any cop worth anything would have DOT there to deadline your truck.

The dye from un-taxed diesel/home heating oil will stay in the tank, and even using it occasionally will result in a positive test. The government is really tough when they find they been cheated out of tax revenue! Glad I bought an 8.1 gas for plowing, you won't see a big jump in gas prices till Memorial Day weekend when gas usage jumps, but if we have a cold winter heating oil and diesel will go through the roof.

Guys,

I just saw $2.49 here today.... it is starting to get painfully...

There has been talk of $3 for gas... where would that put diesel... I know... everyone running to truck stops with a hose and a bucket on a moped or in Chris's VW Bio-Diesel car....

How much equipment or material can fit on a moped???

Well if you have a 38 gal tank if it goes to $3 a gal that will be $114 to fill your truck and if you fill up maybe 2 times a week for a mount That would be close to 1 thousand a month. Now I don't know about any one else but that will start to cut into your profit . The days of doing small jobs real cheap are gone.I say on my computer that some guy was saying that buy the begining of the summer that oil would drop big time to $28 a barrel. this is a harvard speculation or one of those high end collages.

let me tell you it's already been going on I get a price increase every month from my carpet suppliers that last one I got just a few days ago said an 8% increase. So does this mean I tack on another 8% ??? or do you try to absorbe it /So hence the price goes up . but just to cover the increase if you have to cover the your pay with the same infaltion the price would be out of site i'm sure. Damn opec just increase production .

We pay around 80 cents a liter,which is about $3.04 a US gallon.Regular unleaded is around 93 cents a liter,which is $3.53 a gallon.

I think at some point you will have to rework your numbers and make up some loss i know with towing its kinda cool here cause all three towing companys are staying together on pricing most of wreckers the one company runs are gassers and he is getting killed.
Last week when i resigned repo contract bank included a 6percent increase for fuel costs over 12 months however thats not offsetting enough based on my useage.

Chris i hate to ask what a gal of av fuel runs or racing fuel like torco?

I filled the mustang up sunday a gal of Torco was 3.99 The boat i run AV fuel and its running 4.25gal for 110 low lead the boat uses 15gals of fuel for a 9 mile trip down the lake iam thinking about cutting back on the boats fuel useage this year i may try running 70or 80mph i think i could save a fuel gals per mile :grinz

My fuel usage during plowing is minimal, a very small percentage of expenses. Of course fuel price increases will cut in to profits, but the amount will be very low.

My landscaping business is a different story though. I've got one gas mower and it uses about 7 gallons a day and the truck uses quite a bit of fuel hauling the equipment trailer around. My 550 uses fuel too when hauling materials, 9 mpg or less! I'm going to have to adjust pricing on these services to reflect the expense increase.

With you guys it's more of just a fuel thing but my cost go beyond that with the material I buy that is petroleum based plus the shipping to get to me . It would be nice if every one stayed together but like in every business there are those co's that still work on pure volume and kill the little guy.

I've been checking this web site out, because of the high cost of fuel. It looks like it will have a short pay back time. www.greasel.com

Geesh Fred,i'd be extremely happy if i could average 1 1/2 gallons per mile in my boat and still hit 70mph, omg ,on a good day i'm lucky to do 1 mpg at 10mph :wah ,but i'm sure your boat doesn't weigh even remotely close to what mine does,i'd guess it to be about 25 tons light,30 tons plus rigged for otter trawling.

About 1750lbs with out the engine two guys can lift it. I can only image what these prices are doing to your fishing buss its gotta be hard. Can you charge more for your days fish intake or is it like you have to go with what market price is and at what point if thats the case do you just say you cant afford to run the boat? Like Cat said i would think all products and services that require fuel useage are going to go up but how a small buss guy deals with it is gonna be tough for all of us.

Fred, the fuel prices cut into my profits a fair bit, what we get paid for the catch doesn't reflect the fuel increase .An average day towing my shrimp net ,i can suck up about 125 gallons a day, towing my groundfish net i use 175-200 a day,if i am running my gillnets ,or hauling lobster traps,it averages 40-50 gallons a day,the last fill up ,fuel was $1.89 at the dock, not very many years ago,it was only$0.54,the last couple years i've stuck with my gillnets,i catch about the same, less fuel expense, way easier on me and the Detroit. At the dock we have a 2000 gallon skid tank, with a key box for all the users, not long ago,i happened to be there when they were adding another row of keys, each one has a meter,i damn near died when i saw the total gallons i've used since it was installed ,mine read in the 70,000 plus gallon range omg ,that was well over a year ago. Some where i read one time that the life expectancy of a Caterpillar 3208 @375hp was about 10,000 gallons of fuel usage,if thats the case,i'm glad i didn't install one, papers were signed for one when the boat was built, but 3 guys near me at the time had trouble right off the bat with their new ones,so it was cancelled ,and the 6v71ta was odered, there was a $1500.00 difference at the time,at least this one has sleeves, and is reasonable to rebuild.
