Toward the end of last winter I was having problems with one truck. When I swapped pumps between trucks, the same problems stayed with the truck, but the pump ran normally on the other truck. I figured it must be a control problem, so I bought a replacement touchpad. I never did get it straightened out before it quit snowing, but now I'm working on it again.

The problem is that the old (it's in a 93 truck), stock Meyer pad has a round 6-pin male plug at the end, and the new one (SAM), has a rectangular female 6-pin plug. Obviously, the new one isn't going to plug into the existing harness.

Anybody know if there are new touchpads available with ends to match the old harnesses? If not, how would you handle this? I really hate the thought of cutting and splicing wires if I don't have to.

Sounds like a classic example of the old adage "ya get what ya pay for" :grinz Looking in an Angelo's catalog sitting here, the real deal is $163.50 and the SAM version is $99.00. That extra $64.50 might be for the fancy little adapter lol.

I just looked in the box of my spare touch pad. It says Meyer on it so I assume its the real thing & not a SAM part. In the box is an adapter to go from round to rectangle if needed. Check with your supplier for the one you got & see if that was left out of the box by accident. Or you may be able to buy that adapter separate from there or another Meyer dealer. I have never seen this part for sale anywhere, so you might have to dig a little to find one. Good luck!

Since the genuine Meyer touchpad on the 98 truck has the rectangular plug, I assumed the difference was a matter of age, and not manufacturer. I'll call the place I bought the replacement tomorrow and see if there was supposed to be an adapter included with the SAM unit. My guess is you're right about getting what you pay for. Next time the Meyer bashing begins, I'll be sure to point out that they are generous enough to include that adapter for the extra $64.50. :)

I agree, at some point they must have changed styles. I bought that touch pad 5 or so years ago now, because a dealer had told me they were junk & it would probably fail soon, most likely in the middle of the night during a snow storm. Don't remember what I paid then, but I'm sure I would have rather spent that money on something else lol.

Thanks, Geoff. I took a look at their website, but it seems like they don't list a whole lot in the way of parts. Is that something that's in their catalog?

CPW's web site is not that detailed compared to their catalog. The CPW part number that should work is 15766 - "Adapter Harness" $15.04

Thanks, John. I spoke with the dealer where I bought the new touchpad, and they have several in stock also. I'll be going to pick one up early next week.

Thanks once again to all who offered their assistance... :drinkup
