Hey guys-
I've been looking at some lift kits in Jc Whitney for my wrangler. How do I know which kit is better? Should I stay under 3 inches if i don't plan on buying new rims or tires?

do the tires fit if not go as high as you need to but no more. keep center of gravity as close to ground as possible.

The tires fit, but rub on the fender flares around sharp turns so it does need some sort of clearance. Its a 93 Jeep wrangler

go with the 3" lift suspension not body. also something else you may or may not want to consider is doing some fender trimming.

I prefer body over suspension lifts,if you just need to go a few inches. It will handle better, and you don't have to worry about alignment problems, driveline angles\length,vibrations etc.

I think it depends on what your porpose is. If you just want to run slightly larger tires like 33"s while keeping a stock type ride quality and if you stay on roads or trails then you will be fine with a body lift. Just spaces everything to give you more clearance.

If you are going to be on harder trails and off road where suspension travel is needed then look into the Rancho kits. They are very affordable. There are others available as well.

I did one on a leaf sprung Wrangler that actually replaced the springs with arms and coils.

I just saw that a similiar coil conversion lift is available from a manufacturer for the 99-04 Ford SDs with leaf springs.

well Chris i must disagree with you on this one. i have allways disliked body lifts. but then i like to get offroad. if it's just street use you could go body.

I got a Ruff Country 3" off ebay for $360 shipped.

Came with dropped pitman arm, shocks, t case lowering kit, and of course the rest.

Well, thanks for all the input guys. Now i'll have to compare prices between Jcwhitney and e-bay. I think the jeep already has leaf springs but i'm not excaally sure so I'll have to talk to my dad about ordering , so that I order the right kit. Lawn god father, does your jeep has leaf springs?, also for 360$ that was a complete kit?

also, i wouldn't be doing any off roading on trails. I used to have a western uni-mount 6'6 on the wrangler but my dad sold it last winter.

Your '93 has leaf springs, it is known as a YJ.

TJ has coil springs all the 2000 and up are TJ's I just don't know the first year. If the newer jeep has a round headlight, it has coils.

Yes it was complete, I don't know if they still giving free shipping though.

Damn they went up some.

YJ's are 87-95.

TJ's are 97-up, there was no Wrangler for 96 so if anyone ever try's to sell you one call BS.
