I acquired this spreader control as part of a package deal. I have no idea if it works. Does anybody know how this hooks up? I assume that I can hook jumpers to it and get a variable voltage reading off the output terminals. That should confirm whether or not it works. The spreader that was with it was total junk and it was a Grotech. The PO implied it had been working with this control box.

Here's the wiring connections. Yellow & black with a polarized, two prong plug and the red & white Powerpole type plugs on the housing.

Alan, head over there and goto the technical section then to the tailgate spreaders and download the install instructions for the Speedcaster 1or2,I realize your unit is older but i was just checking some wireing diagrams they have and i think they can help you out, they show 3 and 4 wire set-ups,good luck

They still use that same wire set up . the 2 wires comming out one is ground the other is brought to the fues pannel i belive the other i'm not sure but i think one goes direct to the battery the other goes to the spinner.I'm just trying to think what they do because i just pulled the unit out of my old truck that i sold.

Ok I found it the red led goes to battery the white plug in the back goes to the spreader the 2 wire that come out red (yellow)goes to vehicle ignition the black is ground .

I hope you can make sense of that mess i just said LOL

Thanks, guys, I got it wired and it shows variable voltage across the full range and all the indicators light when they should.

Those things are pricey, I looked in the CPW catalog and we're talking $300+.

That is the way it works Alan.

You can get the Anderson powerpole connectors at most electronic shops.Waytek has them too.

It does look like one of the older style controllers, which were known for sudden failure. We had 4 of them die back when we ran tailgate units.Thankfully our supplier was aware of the problem, and covered them, even though the were slightly out of warranty.Hopefully it holds up for you.
