Just be aware that Taconic's location is located in the City of Poughkeepsie and is a warehouse style facility. All concrete with many machines on display. There's no area that would be safe for children to play if that's what anyone has in mind, plus you'd want to be sure your children don't wander off for their safety.
Unless your kids have a keen interest in snow removal, I think I'd recommend they be left behind if at all possible. Otherwise, I think they'll be bored in short order and can easily get into something that might hurt them.
I'm not saying you can't bring them, I think John mentioned they were welcome but I want everyone to know what to expect. I live 20 minutes away and have never brought my daughter, she has no interest in snow removal.

I'll second all that Pelican and John said. If the kids get bored, you won't have a good time either. Not only that, but often groups will go out for drinks, or food after the BBQ and make a whole day of it. The kids would be a hinerance if that is what you wanted to do.
I'm lucky my wife puts up with the once a year BBQ.... She isn't all that interested in snow either. She's ready to go home much earlier than I am. This year, like last year, I have to work on Sunday, so I can't stay there too late. We'll be able to go to dinner, but then I have to leave at a reasonable hour....
Another thing, the BBQ is later this year than in years past, if the weather is not cooperative, it could be a long cold day..... after all, it is almost November this year.

I haven't been in a couple of years. But I did bring my baby girl & 3 yo boy the first time. My wife mostly hung with them & they made out OK for a few hours of doing nothing while Daddy chatted & drooled over equipment. My son actually listened to the whole JP Magic dissertation with rapt attention. So if your kids are there, let John take care of them for an hour or 2, as he doesn't have to do anything special ;)

Here's an incident that occurred about a block away from John's place last week:
reprinted from the Poughkeepsie Journal:
City man is homicide victim
A city man was killed Thursday night as violence erupted on Poughkeepsie's north side, city police said.
The victim, who was not identified, was found in the road near the intersection of Mansion Street and Winnikee Avenue about 9 p.m., police said. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where he later died.
Police declined to release the cause of death.
The homicide may have been related to reports of fighting in the area earlier in the evening, police said.
As police were investigating the homicide, which closed off the intersection for more than 90 minutes, several rapid gunshots were heard nearby, sending officers running toward the direction of the shots.
Around the corner on Morgan Avenue, several officers were searching the street and yards with flashlights looking for a gun.
No victim of the shooting was found, police said.
No further information was available Thursday night.
This turns out to have been a stabbing. Go to
Poughkeepsie Journal.com (http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/) and put "stabbing" in their search engine and you'll find related stories. I drove by the memorial on the way to John's today, as the crow flies it was about 500' from his shop!!!
