Just picked up a c3500 w/7.4. Now it has an intermittent ignition problem. Sometimes it starts right up, sometimes no spark at all. Had it running for about 10 seconds today and it just died. Then wouldn't start again. Funny thing, the hot side of the radio must cancel out when this happens cause the time resets and all the stations! Could the 2 be related? I'm thinking I have a bad ignition computer, which used to be in the dist. in the old days, but what do you all think?

Almost sounds to melike you're either losing main power which cuases the radio to dump or you might have a bad ground on some part of the circuitry that involves both ignition and radio. The radios will usually hold memory for a couple minutes with no power, so whatever it is is keeping things off-line for a while.

Check all the power connections, especially the starter.Wouldn't hurt to go over all the grounds too.

I just had the same problem with my fathers 02 Buick, Turned out to be a dirty battery ground. He would be driving down the road and it would just quit completly dead leave it set for a minute or 2 and it would restart but lose the clock, He even put a new battery in it to no avail. Took me awhile to find it.

Yeah, I replaced the battery too, but it didn't fix it either. Thats okay though, cause the battery that was in it wasn't the right one. It was the smaller 75 series and I put the bigger 78. I'll go over what grounds I can find tomorrow, other wise I might drag it to my neighboring mechanic and have him hook it up to his scanner. The radio thing is just as described, holds for a few minutes and then gone. Thanks for the replies, you guys are gold.
