I recently purchased another truck ( 2000 dodge 2500 4x4) and now need a plow before winter.I still have a 8 foot conventional blade with A frame that was just completly repainted last season. Is it possible to convert this plow with the new minute mount systems?I was told by someone(not a dealer) it can be done but they have to special order it.I really have no other use for this blade so i figured i could try this and maybe save a little cash. Do you think it will be a major pain and cost me just as much as a whole new system? Just floating some ideas

I was looking into a similar conversion for an older Western Plow, but it was going to end up costing almost as much as a newer (used) unimount plow. We scrapped that idea since it wasn't going to be cost effective.

Can you modify the mount so that you can use the conventional style on the older truck?

Look for a well used minute mount system. Usually the blade is the only part that is really beat up. The rest of the frame, pump etc should be in good shape. Then you can mount your blade on it. I know of three setups in the area with 8-9ft blades that need repair or replacement. All are for sale for a good price.

Contacted three different fisher dealers, all stated it was either too much of a pain to do or would only save me about 600 bucks.I guess i will be selling this blade as i have no use for it.

Smart move, I would not bother either with conversion.

I'll buy it. Give me something to swap into a beat up minute mount plow just like I said.

Let me know how much.

Give me a couple weeks just to make sure i dont need it.I have a guy offering me 2 grand for a complete minute mount system with insta act hydraulics?(not sure what that is) I still have to check it out and make sure its not junk.Have a couple other offers i may check out too.

Oh and i pulled the plow out the other day and i guess the paint didnt hold up as well as i thought so it does need repainting again which i may do myself if i get the time. Cutting edge is fairly new got it half way through last season.I will sell it cheap as it will be more junk laying around that i dont need.

It is possible to convert from conventional to minuite mount. Is the plow electric hydraulic or belt driven?
This is how me and a friend did it: It was an 8' with belt driven hydraulics on the truck side. We unbolted the old mount, then we put hydraulic quick disconnects on the line for the lift cylender. For the lights we used plugs that were kind of like small trailer wiring harness plugs. Then we found a truckside minuite mount (used) that fit the truck. Bolted up the mount. Then after calling a few places we were lucky to find some minuite mount headgear, the older style made to work with belt driven hydraulics. The A-Frame of the plow required slight modification to connect it to the minuite mount. We could have got away without modifying the a frame though. So in the end, same plow, same A-Frame, same lights (the minuite mount headgear had no lights with it), different lift cylender and different truckside mount. Overall it was not too difficult, the hardest thing was dropping the old mount, it was a PITA to unbolt. Of course there are better ways, but if you can find the parts you need, it works great.
