Does anybody use, or go through the trouble of getting there oil tested?

I just did and my 04 F350 came back fine, my 98 astro van came back with a few problems said there was a small amount of coolent in the oil and to check the pressure, also said there was bearing wear, this van has been running Mobil 1 for the last 70,000 miles and it only has 75,000 on it. I changed the oil 3x in the first 5000 miles with regular 5w30.

My mechanic seemed to think that the oil testing has its limits and not to take them to heart... what do you all think???

I have had our big trucks tested every now and then. Class 7 and 8. Periodic testing.
We have always looked at the tests as minor warnings, (things to keep an eye on). I would then change the oil in the truck being tested and have a second sample taken after running it a set amount of miles.
95% of the time the second test would be different and there would be no need for concern. At least that's how it has worked out for me in the past.

We use it a lot on the diesels,or on a gasser if we are looking for problems.99 % of the time, the results are very accurate, and informative.

The engine on your Astro van probably has an intake gasket leaking coolant, which will also lead to bearing wear.Running it on Mobil 1 is a good idea, but it won't solve or prevent GM's flawed intake gaskets.I would get it repaired ASAP,before it does more damage.

I get mine tested occasionally, i found an air filter problem due to testing. testing the 6.0 PSD is cheap insurance, esp with the fuel dillution/injector problems they have.
