Hello all!
I am having a hard time tring to figure out what type of traction devices to install in my front and rear end of my 1973 Chevy K10 Long-bed pickup.
Since alot of you guys drive in snow more tham I do I figured maybe you would have some ideas.
I will use the truck for mostly on road and snow conditions with occasional off-road trips.
I was thinking of maybe an Auburn Gear Limited Slip in the rear, and either an Auburn Gear Limited Slip or true Locker in the front with new axles and u-joints. Any suggestions???
Thank you all for your help!

I have heard enough negativity in regards to using anything other than a selectable or open diff in the front that I now have a limited slip for a D60 for sale. I snatched it up a while back before I really considered the ill effects. I have been hanging on to it, waiting for someone to change my mind but it aint happened yet.

Any good locker will work in the rear if you don't mind the noise.A limited slip is another option, and is a lot quiter, but less effective.
Forget about anything in the front, you don't really need it.If you put something in the front,it won't want to turn on slippery surfaces, unless you get out and unlock one hub.The only option is an ARB or some other sort of selectable locker, like stated above.

I am against any mechanical locker in any truck used it snow. With a true locker, there is no differential and it is either both tires same speed or 1wd in a low power or coasting turn. I have plowed for over 17 years and I do not use LSD in any of my trucks and I have never been sorry. Direction control is far more important to me and my plowing weight is usually around 8000lbs or better and traction has never really been a issue even with open diffs and I do some lots in 2wd without problem. A selectable locker of a True Trac gear based LSD would be a good compromise.
