Saw Snopro and met Snowtime, Cat320, and Drobson. Sorry I missed you BWhite but I had two other people with me and needed to hit the road. I finally got to see a Bobcat Toolcarrier with plow equipment on it. Hopefully I will get a Demo this winter so I can put a proposal together for one for next years budget.

Cool pics guys! Thanks for posting them! I wish I had gone, but it would have been about a 4.5 hr drive for me, and from the sounds of thins if you could have seen the whole show in just over an hour it might not have been worth it, so I don't feel so bad about missing it now.

I like the Curtis mascott! LOL!! Does she come with the plows?

I like the pics of the Unimog and all of the small equipment as well- I'm looking at trying to get a machine like the dingo in a couple of years.

Thanks again guys! Oh, and thanks for promoting the site- this thing is growing like wild fire!!

Not right now, but next year after the season we can start looking at shirts and hats- I would love to show my support and maybe even drum up some more members from this area as well!! CNY Joe and I have been trying to get a list of fellow contractors who are either still looking for work , or who would be interested on being put on a call list shoudl any one of us run into trouble and need help clearing a lot or getting unstuck. We haven't had too much success so far, but we're like pitbulls- we're not going to let go of the idea!!! LOL!! I would be willing to try and make the trip out next year to meet everyone as well! It's nice to get a way with the wife now and again- even if it's only an overnighter!!

Bill

BTW- thanks for posting all of the pics! Hopefully next year being their second will be bigger!

You got the picture of the Unimog ,I couldnt get with my camera . Great shot . Lots of great pictures . cat320
11-19-2003, 04:45 PM
That was a nice truck just needs the 4x4 in it .

Honest Mike
11-19-2003, 05:23 PM
I would say 4wd is a must. I would wait it out a little longer. I bet they have the 4x4 ones in the works, and will release them soon. I would think they would wanna compete with Fords F450-550, which both come in 4wd already. Just my oppinion. Mike :)

BWhite
11-19-2003, 05:48 PM
Never having plowed in a truck that large , would 4x4 be absolutely necessary ?

Honest Mike
11-19-2003, 05:51 PM
I havent ever owned a big truck like that, or plowed with one either, but me personally, I would never be without 4wd. Thats just my oppinion though. Mike :)

I would have to say that it would not be absolutely neccessary, but it sure would help with some of the areas I might get into to plow- we have some pretty back woods areas here that are still not paved yet! So the roads can be pretty treacherous, and any advantage you can get to handle them would be worthwhile, IMO.

Plus- it'd be neat just having one of the biggest and baddest 4WD in the neighborhood!!!! LOL!!

Bill

BWhite
11-19-2003, 05:55 PM
I thought that truck was much larger than a F450/550 . A much higher GVW

cat320
11-19-2003, 06:03 PM
JD where was that truck? must of been farther down the road I parked right in front. That 4500 is really no bigger than a F450-550 it just looks like a big class 6 or 7 truck and I would want 4wd if i had one for plowing but ofcourse you can make do with 2wd.So JD did you like that Granite ?

JD PLOWER
11-19-2003, 06:05 PM
Cat that was outside when I left. It wasn't there on my way in though  Everything in the show I thought was interesting in one respect or another.

phillyplowking1
11-19-2003, 06:22 PM
The 4500s only have a 15,000 gvw.I think Chevy is coming out with 4x4 this summer.

cat320
11-19-2003, 06:41 PM
The 4500 has a gvw rating of 16,000 -16,500 - 17,500 and the 5500 goes fromm 18,000 to 19,500

slplow

SLC1
11-20-2003, 02:44 PM
We own a 4500, we got it in late January of last winter and plowed the rest of the season with it. We have a 10' Fisher MC plow on it, and this year we got a 4yd sander for it. I have always said that I would not want to plow without 4x4 but the truck has been fine without it, has only gotten stuck a few times and has had no problem pushing snow. I will definalty look at one when the 4x4 comes out, but I have been happy with the one we have, ours has the 16k GVW and snow plow prep package. Just my two cents.
