I have an opportunity to pick up a cheap 60/40 seat with a folding armrest/console from a 95' to 98' Chevy. The seat looks new and I was thinking of swapping it into my 76'. I was wondering if anyone knows of a company that makes aftermarket brackets for this sort of thing, or if I'm going to have to fabricate something. I think the floor on 88' to 98' models is almost flat, whereas, the older trucks are raised where the seat mounts. Therefore, the brackets are probably completely different. If it were a bench seat or buckets, it would probably be a fairly easy swap. I am afraid the seat being 60/40 might complicate things. Has anyone done a swap like this?
Thanks.

I put buckets from a camaro into my 83. I made some brackets and welded the whole deal to the floor. People asked what I would do if I had to remove the seats(Since i do it all the time  ) and I told em thats what a sawsall is for and they would imediatly ask how i would get em back in? Same way they got there to begin with, I have a welder. Always thought I was nuts but I thought it really made good sense  I painted the floor at the same time so that didnt bother me and I did paint the other side were i made the welds since it toasted the paint.
If you dont want to weld it to the floor you will be stuck welding up some brackets sice i dont think anyone makes em. One thing I would recomend. First make it stronger than you think is neciassary. 2 make large "pads" to distribute the weight and pulling force in case or a wreck. The factory make sure were they bolt is plenty sturdy and dont just drill some holes in sheet metal. If you are going to bolt it make some big "washers". You dont want the things pulling through. This is even more critical if the seat belts are built in bet I am 99% sure they arnt on the year you are talking.
A welder/bit of angle iron and some time and you will be golden :shades

Thanks for the reply. I will probably go ahead and start trying to fabricate some brackets and see how it works out. I was hoping this was a common swap and somebody made aftermarket brackets, but that doesn't appear to be the case. I will let you know how it turns out.
