I have been told that a TruTrac or a Lock Right or a Powertrax will work fine in a Dana 44 chevy front axle without affecting the turning
radius. I heard they will slip to allow turns alright in the mud or snow. How much truth is in this belief ? I cannot afford a ARB
Someone told me that an SPICER OEM DANA TRAC LOK WILL PERFORM LIKE NEEDED for extra power and allow turns with no problem.I have to change my carrier for new gears anyway. What is the pro and cons ?
Will this set up work without unlocking a hub to turn ?
Is the spicer oem Dana Trac Loc original equipment for a front Dana 44 ?

as long as the hubs are unlocked it will NOT hurt the turnig radius

only when the driveshaft is coasting

NOPE! not on pavement. if you try, expect broken axleshafts! I hosed 3 longside inners before I took my detroit out of the front of the 78 bronco I had

no locker was ever supplied from the factory in a front axle application, the trackloc was a option for REAR axles you usually see a auburn/clutch type posi-track unit in front axles but even then they are rare .

It WILL allow some slip for turning on the pavement without breaking stuff,as it's no where near as tight as a Detroit,or a true locker.

It will still suck in the mud\snow when both front hubs are engaged. It will not want to turn if it's at all slippery. You would still need to unlock one hub for turning.

It's not recommended to use most limited slip,or mini-lockers with one hub engaged,as they can slip and burn up.If you really want the front locked, install a mini-spool,and then use the hubs to control it.
