My father had an 83 3/4 ton silverado that had 4x10's behind the seats from the factory. I've yet to see another truck that had them. Was this only on certain years or models, or just an option?

Thanks. I think I found an 82 scottsdale that looks like it used to have the boxes as well. I'm sure I'll find a pair soon enough. Thanks again

as of four years ago you could still buy the speakers behind the seat new from chevy, i put them in my 87 custom deluxe, they go in the corners and make a neat install
I think the factory mounts that you are looking for are found in some silverados. It was an option. My buddy has an '80 silverado and he has the factory mounted speakers in the back and where the map pockets would go. I just finished installing power windows in my 78 and I used to have 6x9's in the doors, but the power windows now take up that space. There was a factory location in the kick panels (there were cutout spots on them) to put some 4", but they really don't do the trick. Check out some local wrecking yards for silverados, maybe they have the factory speaker mounts for the back. Hope this helps.

My 84 Silverado has them, I'll try to get a picture today, and post it here.
