Well after my dad took a ride in my chipped duramax now he is wondering if I can turn up the wick in the 01 F550 :D Actually he asked if I could make his ford run like my truck and I told him no but I can give her a bit more balls.

Powerstroke/auto. Fat heavy pig that gets driven hard and has a excavator attached to it most of the summer. I will install a pyro and probably a different muffler if its a go but I wouldnt expect anyone to look at the guage

Thinking of the TS performance 50 hp tune. I really like Edges service though and love what it did to my truck but thier lowest tune is a 60hp. Still undecided......ts performance said the 50hp tune wouldnt really run hotter than stock  dont know if I believe that?

Any thoughts or oppinions? Anyone running a small chipped 7.3 here?

What ever is done needs to be totaly egt safe. Like I said I wouldnt expect some of his guys to look at the guage and if its a switchable tune I would fully expect them to set her to kill and let her eat till the motor went 3 mile island :headwall Also dont want to kill the stock trany.

So am I asking for too much?

Phillip,

With a good intake and exhaust, that's about right! Dennis can really program! The lowest TS program I've run in my truck is a 75hp. Egt's were only 50-100 degrees hotter than stock. I have a few real "BIG" programs right now(150hp+) and they are still only 100-200 degrees hotter than stock. BUT, My truck does breath some big air!!!!

If you are looking for great service and a good price on a TS chip, give my buddy Nate Dwyer at Performance Truck Products (http://www.performancetruckproducts.com/) a call and tell him Greg told you to call;) He will treat you right!!

Philip, I have been chipping F550's for a few yrs now. Super chips micro tuner will allow 3 settings of power without the switch option. Is nice to tune and know they won't be messing with it. Havent put exhaust on the 550's running lower and middle programs. Have put the exhaust on them running upper program though. Pyro and boost guages on most of them. Definately notice the extra torque for pulling trailers and loaded trucks.

So I should be able to stick a 50hp tune on it and not do anything with the exhaust? That would be cool.

I havent really looked at the 550 much....how well does it respond to "swisscheesing" the factory airbox. Or doing any baffle removals or any other free/cheap mods?

I would prefer to do this cheap as possible.....

Whats the point of a boost guage on a lower tune if you dont care about launch psi witch the dingalings bettern to be trying 4x4 launches with boost;) I mean if I'm not screwing with the boost its not going to get to an unsafe level right?

Thanks:)

I know this is a couple weeks old, but if you haven't done so already, take a look at this. (http://www.thedieselstop.com) You'll not be disappointed. A wealth of ford diesel info.

Thanks, he is still undecided. I hear quad is coming out with a tuner like he has for the duramax. Lets you read codes and the whole 9 yards. Just gota hide it so someone dosnt try to install the 125hp setting
