This poll is for subcontractors equipment that you use on your jobs. Again, this is both trucks and heavy equipment.

We re-visited subs after the SIMA event in Colorado. We learned enough there to make it work right. We are in a controlled growth pattern now and have 3 subs- 2 trucks and one skidder with plow. I may take on another sub if I can find another hi caliber person. That seems to be the biggest issue. Finding subs you can believe in and trust. I have 3 as of now. :) :D :p

This is kind of a tricky question since it can vary by storm but our typical list is 3-4 subs with pickups but if we have enough snow then it might grow too as many as 8. During our blizzard in early December of last year we had two bobcats, two backhoes a loader, two tenwheeler dumps, a small dump and a triaxle all working at the same time mostly on removal.
I'll put between 10-15 subs on the road for most storms. Managing them is one thing, but Finding the right ones is what matters. Zorno, my Dodge got creamed by a Philadelphia Fire Engine on Friday!!!!!!:headwall Two words Soverign Immunity:argue

What you have to eat the whole cost of the truck?

Ken, I gather you were stopped or something. Yuuck ! I know that for volunteers running light and sirens around here, we have normal liability laws in effect. I have been told by the insurance co to NOT run red lights on my trucks, but I do on one. I know that the Sheriff provides insurance for us for our Search & rescue team vehicles. I keep tellin' ya, move out here where common sense isn't totally dead... yet.

This is our first year using subs. We haven't needed them yet (maybe tonight). I have 3 other trucks we use.

Only 1 sub and he's fired after today. I'll be replacing him if I can with someone RELIABLE.

depending on size of storm, anywhere from 5 - 7.........trucks, SS's, and a mini track SS(new sub this year). Don't know if the mini will be used much other than on big storms, and on occasions where there's really bad drifting.....it'll be parked at a complex with 1000's of feet of walks and small corridors.....on this property in the past, we have done it with shovels and blowers, but if we get a wicked storm this year or real bad drifting, the mini will come in handy.

We put out our own equipment and six subs in the last storm — which was not all that big. We expect to put out an additional three or four (if we can find them) in future storms.
