Cat,
Not paint it's powder coat. Most plows use this because of the EPA restrictions and cost of compliance for a paint system. I'd love to see them go back to painted or dipped blades but it is not cost effective for even Western in the 50,000 or so plows a year range to paint them.
I was at the NTEA in Baltimore checking out the other plows there and they all had rust spots on them even thought they were show plows. The Blizzard makes it very easy to spot cause it's white ( Rodger Dodger will have fun here ) and shows up before any of the others in most peoples eyes because of the contrast.
Personally I touched up my Westerns in season and at the end of the season all the time I had them. Waited for all the power coat to peel off and then painted the whole thing with brush on paint. I know the spray on looks smoother but honestly don't want to deal with the over spray and clean up every time I paint a blade.
The Blizzard is no different. I touch it up in season and clean it up and paint it at the end of the season. I'll probably wire wheel and prime the big spots before painting them.
Back to the original question. They are having the blades powder coated with one system right now and have been working to improve it every year. The originals yellowed after a year. Now they retain the white much longer.
Last year they started to add Teflon to the powder coat and it has helped improve the coverage and appearance.
The down side has been the sticker glue is not holding to the paint and they are coming off. Testing is going on for new glue/sticker combos to help this.
The factory is working on a new multi stage system to clean and prep the blades and parts before being powder coated.
If you have followed other manufactures over the years Western went throught the same thing when they introduced the power coat in 91-92. As did Fisher and Boss. Meyer has experienced off and on problems with the blade system but use a different process with a fairly thick coating. Down side to theres is the fumes from the paint when repairing the Meyers.
Western and Fisher spent a bundle with new power coat processes over the last few years. Boss has been in testing and came out with a new process in the last year of two.
Like I said above though. I was checking out the show blades and still found rust spots on all of them. West/Fisher, Boss, Meyer, Artic, Snoway, Curtis and Blizzard.

To be honest, I never saw the big deal with people complaining about the stickers coming off. I would worry more about other issues than that. As long as the plow performs as expected, the fact that a sticker stays on or not wouldnt matter a whole lot to me. A new truck seems to be on the way for me, so I will give blizzard a fair shake and seriously look at one. Johnny d SAYS ITS A MUST HAVE.

I have also noticed that the finish on the Blizzards I have seen out there , seem to get tired looking real quick . Maybe its just the color .

I was thinking today that you all need to road trip out this way. We have 2 great casinos, and a ton of things to do. If anyone ever does head to Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun let me know, I live less than 15 min away and would love to watch other people loose money. LOL alot of good eateries as well. If not, I will have to look into a fall road trip to Jerres.

I eat and watch shows and sporting events, but I am sure they are a few fellow members that like to play the games.

casinos are fun you just gotta remember not to play with any more money than you can afford to lose and not care too much about... say $50 or $100...

LOL 50-100 always turns in to $500-$1000. or more. So there is no way if you walk in to a Casino your only going to spend $100. Just not possiable. Thats why i dont go. But the concerts and everything are great.

Leave money in the room and leaving it with someone else never works unless your leaving it with the old ladie. But she usally spends it so either way you lose LMFAO.

Look at my post"Hey guys, check out this Blizzard." That's how that whole snowball started. the owner did'nt like the fading of the white powdercoat, and all the rust that was appearing. They all rust. Look at the conditions they are subject too!!! I am a Western dealer, they seem to hold up fairly well in the powdercoat dept. Like everything else, it's how it's maintained. Also sell Hustler mowers. powdercoat issues were a problem for them too. Mowers built after Feb 1st of this year use new system and look awesome!!!
