Don't worry, you WILL. My 7.3 got about 16 last summer before it was broke in. I can't wait to see what it'll do this summer once they quit pumping that #1 in the tanks!

ENJOY! Just don't take too many "tight" properties!

Well it's been two weeks with the new truck, and I can say that the 6.0 deisel is not only geting 2X+ the fuel mileage but I cant keep my foot out of the accelator, I guess I've been lucky so far last night coming home from work, I was on a 4 lane road looked down and was rolling along at 91mph, it's a 50 limit!!

My old truck would only get up that fast if i had a 40 mph tailwind

I'm getting 14 -15 mpg mostly around town, thats much better then the 7-9 I was used to.

well I'm going on a 1200 mile trip this weekend, I'll post the mileage when i get back :burnout

Fred last yr the new 6.0 was king of the hp hill ,now its just mid pack. All Dodges are coming thru with a 325hp/600 ft lb Cummins. In every test empty loaded, drag racing, climbing the Dodge is the quickest and fastest. While your truck is certainly quick.Im not impressed with the 6.0 overall,Ill stick with the Cummins,in the unlikely event the 6.0 Ford proves to be longer lasting, more reliable and durable than the cummins ,id try one then.Im glad you love yours. If you ever feel like making some real power,TS performance makes a killer 130+hp program for the 6.0's .:D .Itll put a smile on your face:D

Hey ya know i was pulling on ya just seeing if ya read my posts your right though about cummins i would never agrue that, ive worked on to many otr trucks and know better. I do like my fords and the 6.0 is enough power for me for a stocker.

You met me i think the whole thing with me and fords would be diff if the dodge dealer back in 99 would not of looked at me has someone that couldnt afford anything on there lot new or used i was pissed by that treatment and went down and drove my first superduty and well ive never looked back to bad for our cpd dealer 5 trucks would of been a nice piece of buss for them and honestly after leasing a 97 dodge ram i really wanted all 2500 and 3500 rams but they just didnt think i could afford them.

John, thanks for the info... I think I'll look into that 130+ hp!! thats nice... :burnout

Well just returned from my trip...

WOW !!!

18.5mpg on the way south, and 18.9mpg on the way back north, avg. speed 75-85 mph !!!
I think the carolinas have swicthed to the summer fuel, I was running the winter blend going down there.

Pickering Snow, I bet that dodge dealer is cussing now! NEVER judge a book by its cover!

Well anyway I love it. I just hope that new tranny holds up!!!

guys,

I was told by a ford enthusiast that Ford has already bought back some 500 or more 6.0L powersmokers... no questions asked....

sound like they have a fix..

Gee not to jump on the ford wagon here but think about it buy back of 500 trucks out of how many? ford led the market with the sales of the superduty last year, i own two 6.0s and iam happy with both of them power and mileage is great, yes my first 6.0 last year fell apart on the way home from detroit and your propnley saying why did ya buy another simple i have been in the automotive buss for 26yrs i have seen many new engines come out have pre design issues and then get resolved such is the case with the 6.0.

Look at chrysler right know with there 2.7l v-6 that engine has been out since 97 and is a complete peice of junk chrysler in no why shape or form is trying to help cust's or redesign the engine i have had to change out three in the last 6months crate engines that cost 4650.00 plus labor that is sad very sad. How about the early duramax dont know how many service calls i have been on with the trucks sitting along the highway with cracked injectors and acrankcase full of fuel, the more i think about it ford buying back even a 1,000 units is nothing compared to the number sold and at least for ford they bought them back!!

05-15-2004, 05:07 AM
Mike, lets see some pics of your new truck. Fred, well said. I agree with you on the 2.7V6,what a hunk of junk.No matter what engine Ford puts in the SD people will buy them since they have the right configurations,Dodge and GM do not have what Ford offers, in the 450/550,thats the bottom line.

Customer service means alot to people. We are running 7.3s in our fleet and expect we will get 6.0s in the next round. I just hope we do get Fords not GMs.

I'll post some pic's as soon as I figure out how to!

Just did the 5000 mile service and over all I am happy, the 15 qts of oil and the $22.00 oil filter and the $50.00 fuel filters hurt a little, not to mention the PIA replacing the bottom fuel filter, well not a PIA just messy, the filter is side mounted, I had a nice arm full of fuel.

Still getting around 14 mpg hopefully it will get better with time.

I'll get those pic's as soon as it quits raining every other day!!!

I'm still trying to decide weather to get a new plow for it or just put the 4 yr old western back on it?

Welder we know bought a 04 F-350 reg cab diesel automatic. The tranny went out at 500 miles, so he brought it back to the dealer they put his truck and a new truck on the lift swapped the trannies and gave hima 100,000 mile warranty. I think theyre backing the stuff and they said if the trucks are going to break they'll do it in the first couple hundred miles.
Eric
PS my next truck is going to be a Ford gas or diesel

Well I just received my first Blackstone report back from having the oil tested, and all was good news, no problems, just normal wear for break-in oil. I guess I got a good one... we'll see!!

I spoke with my plow dealer and decided to get the new 8' Western, with the western wings with the ultra mount and all the goodies, I was thinking about the Blizzard 8-10 but theres only one dealer around here and he hasn't been doing the "snow plow thing" long, so I dont know how there customer service is and I don't need to find out in the middle of a storm.
My dealer was thinking about bringing Blizzard in, but hasn't as of yet.

I will post a few pic's soon. The weather GODS say it isnt going to rain for a few days (we'll see) and I can can get it cleaned up!

I know somebody with 5 of them (2005 f-350's) , the attachments for the snowplow don't exist. The whole frame was changed. He'll have to pay someone to get something custom made! Food for thought! :canada

wyldman
10-06-2004, 01:18 PM
As far as I know, they made a few changes to the 05,but nothing severe enough to prevent most current plows from easily bolting up.He may want to check with another dealer,as something doesn't sound right.

Ditto on what Chris posted. I have been told that the frames are very close and that my blizzard would bolt up to an 05 no problem.

CT18fireman
10-06-2004, 01:53 PM
Well it has changed enough that Fisher has amde a new attachment kit. The instructions are up on their site.

http://www.fishersnowplows.com/pdf/64689_080104.pdf

Not sure if the old mounts could be adapted, I have yet to see a new Ford. I would think the lack of leaf springs would open up the front, however the old mounts tucked back to the axle centerline so a coil suspension might interfere here.

I guess a lot will depend on the plow make.

Personally, I have had an early 6.0L, and couldn't be happier.
The Dodge was never a consideration because of poor resale value. No matter what anyone says, the 5.9L Cummins is still a dog in the pep department, and the 6.0L will run circles around it.
I'm not sure who has tested the new "600" Cummins, but it is very unimpressive IMHO.

I just purchased a new Chevy because of some unbelieveable rebates and some arm twisting from my buddy who owns a Chevy store. While it is a nice truck without any real downsides, I believe the Ford is still a tougher, better constructed truck.\

Enjoy your new ride and know that you have the best of the best.

I know, I have seen the fuel prices, but its not the cost of each stop, its the amount of stops you are going to make. Probably a few less than the ole 10 cly. As far as who makes the better truck, that issue has been stabbed, shot, run over and just plain beat to death. Some people are ford people, as with Dodge and Chevy. I do like the Ford alot, its sweet lookin. But again, this brand talkin could go on and on! Bottom line, thats a sweet rig, Ken.

Put some weight behind them, and see which one rises to the top.The Cummins will outpull anything out there.

The V8 motors feel a little faster, but the Cummins wins in the usable torque department.Torque is what you need in a pickup truck.

George C
10-10-2004, 04:14 AM
I guess it's a matter of preference.
I won't own a Dodge, nor a Cummins.
It may be a great engine, but it's inline 6 power curve just isn't for me, and a Dodge truck is just not my taste, and it's resale history is the worst of the big three...
It's just a matter of opinion, but one that has never changed for me.

Currently, I have a 160 Quadzilla module installed in my 6.0L, and combined with a 4" dual exhaust and a PG-7 intake, I should be in the 450 hp range along with around 750+ lb's of torque. Each of these new diesels, including the Duramax can be turned into a monster for around a grand, so stock figures would have nothing to do with my purchasing decision. All of them can be made to RUN..
I tow a 26' race car trailer which may sport up to 10K without effort, and will tow up just about any incline at warp speed.
