Had the luck to get picked for a random audit by the NYS Dept. of Labor this year.

And i know of at least 3 other companies around here who had them this year too.

Good thing i (my wife):) keeps really good records. They looked back from when i first incorporated up through the end of 2003.

They checked anything & everything,
All my payroll records(i use Paychex), Corporation Tax returns,
Workers Comp Policies, NYS Disibilty Policies,Unemployeement policies, Business check books and just about anything else they could think of.

When they got done the auditor complimented my wife on her filing and bookkeeping and said that everything looked good.

Hopefully i won't have to go through this again for a long time.

Anybody else have one this year too?

Dan

We has a NYS sales tax audit a couple of years ago. They also looked at everything! We had to pay a couple of thousand dollars in extra sales tax. We frequently buy materials, tools, and equipment out of state. Some states don't charge sales tax on these out of state purchases, and we are responsible for paying NY state the sales tax on these purchases! I really didn't know anything about it at the time, just thought there was no tax because we were out of state......WRONG.

GUYS.........I hear ya about the dreaded audit !
The NYS sales tax knuckleheads did a few audits on my
NYS-S corp. too.

I gave them a HARD time ! You want my records.....GET a
suppeona (spl). They did..........

I got a LARGE box........took everything out of the nice monthly
envelopes that the book keeper and Paychex sends me and
DUMPED everything in there and mixed them all nicely !

Gave them to the NYS tax knucklehead with a smile...:D

Never was audited again!:grinz .................geo
