SO last night an old fellow turned in front of me and we collided. I guess he did not see me with 4 headlights and a flasher....No one was hurt but my plow is all messed up.
It appears that something went inside the pump because it flops back and forth when you push on it and the moldboard is bent. The A frame also seems tweeked and both pivot pin brackets are broken. This is an older meyers 7.5 plow maybe mid 80's.
Anyone have any pointers for dealing with the insurance company on this? Good old plows are hard to find this time of year and I'm nervous about the value they will place on this. The other driver was ticketed and does have insurance.
Thanks,
J

Best thing to do would be jump on craigslist and start looking for a blade, they are floating around on there for sure. Most want more than they are worth, but in your case you need something ASAP The pump can be fixed if anything is broken on it, but i doubt if any serious damage has been done to the pump its self..

I has a similar situation where my plow was damaged, bent mold board, bent a frame, broken piston.
I went through my insurance and they were very good about it. I had to keep on them with calls but within a week I was back together.

I don't know the Meyers pump in particular but my guess is the relief valve got blown apart from the sudden impact.

You might be surprised at what the insurance company might do. I had a guy t-bone me, which pushed me head on into a tree. I didn't have the blade on, but the mount got bent pretty good. It was an older style mount, which was no longer available. The insurance company paid for a new style mount, the conversion kit to convert my plow to a new style mount, and all of the labor for the dealer to do all of the work. The total came to around $2800.00! I ended up taking the old mount to my welder/fabricator, and he had it straight in about two hours, and I ran it for two more years, until I sold the whole setup. My insurance company even bought be a new hypertech programmer for my new truck, since my old programmer wouldn't work with my new truck ( they ended up totaling my original truck)

So the shop called, the moldboard is shot, along with the a frame being bent, the crossover valve is also blown. The part I did not anticipate is apparently the frame on the truck also bent towards the passenger side and is rubbing on the leaf spring...
They are going to get me an est. tomorrow and then I will chat with the insurance company.

Will a 7.6 poly mold board from an ez classic fit on the old 7.6 standard frame?
I found one at a good price but can't find a mount for the 1981 ford f250 for the ez classic. I am pondering that the 87 mount would work, but Meyer did not want to state that because of load ratings.
Thoughts?
BTW the insurance company offered me 800 bucks for the plow...not even close to what I need to get back up and running. Let the fun begin I guess.

nope it will take some mods to make it fit right but if you leave the quad in it you can adapt your a frame to it pretty easy

I have insurance for my equipment, so If I lose a plow it will be covered. Maybe a good time to check policies to be sure you are covered. Just a thought.

How much did your local Meyer dealer quote you to replace what is damaged? I get calls from insurance companies all the time. I tell them exactly what it is going to cost to replace what is damaged. They don't have to like it. They just have to pay for the damages caused by their insured.
You should have an estimate for pump repair, and a Facelift from Meyer. Over $2500 easily.

The Meyer's dealer quoted 2100 to repair the damage. The fellow's insurance opinion was that the plow is only worth 1000 and so they will total it and sell it back to me for 800. I think we will end up above that however. I bought that 7.6 poly mold board ez classic plow complete. I took the plow board and sector? and mounted that and rams on my a frame as that ended up being ok. I swapped the e60 pump in and will have my e47 rebuilt. All in all it appears to be working. I did change the fluid in the e60 unit and that looked fine. So what a bunch of screwing around but I think I am good to go!
