That is the way it should be 50 deg to put plow gear on and let old snow melt then get cold for new snow that can be plowed get colder so we can sand/salt then start it all over again :D

Got to around 50 on this beautiful sunny day. Now its 36.7, full deck of heavy looking clouds, smells & feels like snow, radar is here already, just can't see any flakes or rain yet. We are now forecasted at 5-8" with 6" of them down by sun up! Sure gonna be hard to see for a while this evening ;)

Campi,
Warren wasn't included with my short term forecast this time, so I'm guessing you will be in the next lower tier of casted accums. But that is still a 4-6" prediction if you are not in the 5-8 range. :grinz

Good luck to everyone who gets to play in this one!

Well,
I didnt get to play. It rained until about 5 am. Turned to snow and covered the grass and cars but no roads. I think my year is over. I can't complain it wasnt too bad of a winter for me.

John that's enough to sand or salt unless it was just on the grass.

Cat ,I was out all morning, I did the commercials, plowed one,and salted the rest. It was a slushy mess, you were pushing water/slop around, and salt wasnt all that effective since most of it ran off.Id rather deal with 3" of snow than 1"of slop.

all we ended up with was by 6 am a light dusting not even enough to spead sand and by 8:30-9 it was just about melted. I think that will be it for snow this season it's gonna be like a rolercoster this coming week up and down with the temps .

Storm lasted until almost 10:30, I pushed a solid 8" at most of my residentials in the northern part of Stamford.

Commercial also had a lot more than 1"- 3", but with a 1" trigger they get plowed first automatically.

:grinz

2 storms in a week, total accumulation of approximately 1 foot to a foot and a half of new snow that lasted long enough to plow and then melts away...:cash :cash :cash :cash My kind of storm pattern for sure !!!:D

Three nights in a row of going out and salting--a little bit. Had to go around and check almost everything, but didn't do an *entire* salting all week, particularly last night. If I'd stayed in bed though several locations would've been a problem early in the mornings. It still seems like sort of a bonus after hitting 80 degrees here in February.

...and salt wasnt all that effective.... Id rather deal with 3" of snow than 1"of slop.

Ya know, as I sit here and think about it, 1" of slop would be a whole lot closer to 100% water, whereas snow has some kind of ratio to it, be it 5:1, 10:1, etc. Apply that ratio to your inch of slop and it's like trying to burn five inches of snow with just salt. No wonder it doesn't work. I've been reconsidering the whole "2 inch trigger" thing. Particularly this winter it just so often seemed like those first two inches had sooo much water in them...

PLowed all tues night into wed. It snowed wed night into thursday. Back out thurs morn at 3 am and plowed until noon. Repaired a truck and lowered the edge on my v plow in the afternoon, and then got some sleep. Back out Fri am at 3 am and plowed till noon.
It basically never stopped snowing from tuesday afternnon until mid am on friday. Anyway a very lucrative week. Once we got back into snow mode, it went smooth. Gearing up for it sucked, but once it arrived it was easy to deal with.
