Last spring I blew out he base lug o-ring on my conventional western. It happened again this morning. My questions are:
1. Why would this o-ring fail? This one was new last spring.
2. What is the purpose of the hole going to the base lug? It is not a fluid circuit. Does it just allow for a bit of a buffer zone for pressure? If I seal the lug itself to the base with an RV silicone, would it be be sufficient or would it not be able to hold the pressure?
I don't have an o-ring and no one open in 100 miles that will have one either to fix today. Input will be appreciated. I can stock up on a bunch of these, though it is time consuming to change it out and I'd rather have a long term solution.
Your input will be appreciated!
