Hi - Ole Timer from Montgomery, Texas here. I found a body shop who sez he can spot weld in the small holes in the bedside, doors, and fenders formed from rust behind the molding strip. He further sez this can be done on the vintage trucks because of the metal thickness (also of course the condition of the truck/material). I also found that taking off the hood springs does allow the hood to lie flat at it should but of course you need the springs to allow the hood to stay up when opened. So this morning I will be looking for hood hinges and springs at a shop recommended to me. Down here we don't have to deal with severe low temperatures - just severe high ones. From the middle of April to almost Thanksgiving the temps are in the high 80's and 90's and the humidity is also very high. All this means it really tough to go without an air conditioner - which my Scottsdale has not had because it is a Nebraska truck - I bought it there when we lived there. But this year I will have to get it installed. I'm getting too old to not have A.C.
Hope to hear from you guys from time to time.
