pulsating when started and blowing lots of exaust. Checked the turbo and it seems fine. Could the waste gate be stuck on the turbo and is there a way to check it?:(

180,000 miles Have my mechanic coming to look at it on Friday. Over the phone from the symptoms I gave him he seemed to think there was some air getting in the fuel system. I do have an airdog fuel pump recently installed.

Thinking it might be the apps sensor again. Feels like the same no pedal response when you try and drive it. It cuts out from the pedel then when you put it in neutral it reves up and starts to go. Sometimes if you pulsate the pedal it goes better too. Other than that it has a dead pedal.

fuel filter was put on in november. got one on order. The old one was filled with alot of crap and its a 2 micron filter. would this possible give the same symptoms?

No codes have popped up, but it doeas have an aftermarket fuel pump on it now which makes me think its something to do with that

I know nothing about diesels however what your describing is like what happened on the NH skid steer. no power, no throttle, lots of black smoke.

The pump let go. not enough pressure to atomize the fuel i was told. Happened twice in 2 weeks. Finally got a good pump. Just something i figured i would throw out. If it is the pump it will be an instant fix of all the problems.

Go to the Diesel truck resource site, and there are posts on how to reset the apps, and they might be able to give ya some pointers. You never mentioned what color the smoke was ?? If ya cant fix it I will take it off your hands lol !

looks like i might be in for the dreaded vp44 injection pump again. The prices are all over the place for these. Is there one that I should lean towards.

Note to self....Never buy a dodge 98.5-2002 ever again. After this i think i will have officially spent more on parts then i did on the truck originally.

A good performance fuel pump and a fuel pressure gauge will definitely help stop the injector pump problems, fuel pressure is what kills them things.. your lift pump is probably shot..

i have an aftermarket air dog fuel pump already. Got sick of playing that game after four lift pumps:eek: Turns out it was the injection pump. runs great now. Added the total up today......I've put almost 13k in this truck since 02 replacing turbos, trannys, lift pumps, and injector pumps, gauges, hoses, ect.
Cant wait till the injectors start going at 120.00 a piece:wink

Still half the price of a Dmax injector.

P.S. I love my 12 valve even if it is only 180hp.
