From nbc 30 connecticut..
Tuesday: Cloudy and colder with some light snow in the midday and afternoon, highs 33 to 38.
Tuesday night: Cloudy and cold with some periods of snow, lows 28 to 33.
Wednesday: Cloudy and cold with periods of snow, highs 33 to 38.
Wednesday night: Cloudy and cold with some flurries, lows 30 to 35.
Thursday: Cloudy and cold with snow possible, highs 30 to 35.
Some very changeable weather in the forecast over the next five days. Spring is a very turbulent time of year weatherwise and the next few days will be a good example of just how fast things can turn around. Some nice weather today with partly sunny skies and much less wind than yesterday. Some rain will sweep into the area around midnight tonight. The rain will move through rapidly and be gone around sunrise tomorrow. Monday will be the warmest day for a few days. High temperatures will rise into the middle 50s in the midday. Colder air will begin to arrive Monday night. A low pressure area will slide off to the South of the state Tuesday. This low will spread clouds over the area and eventually some light snow will break out in the afternoon. Periods of light snow will linger Tuesday night and Wednesday as a moist and cold flow of air from the East persists over the state. On Thursday a more significant low pressure storm system will be moving off to our South. This low has the potential to produce some significant snowfall across the area. A lot can change with the track and strength of the storm so details of the Thursday weather won?t be available until later in the week. Looks like Winter will hang on for at least another week?Art

I am ready for spring, but it would be fine with me to get one more plowable event. When the weather guys was saying snow last Monday (3/8) I highly doubted that we would get anything to plow due to very warm ground and I was right. But with the way the weather pattern is looking for this week, it appear that it would be colder than last week, and it even got colder than they originally forecasted. It was 18 degrees this morning with frost everywhere. Although they are saying the temperature would be in low 40s for this week, I feel that we have a better chance this time because they are not expecting much sun for this week. My guess is that if the storm continue to come the way they are saying, some snow may melt on contact at first but I don't think it would take too long before it could start to accumulate.
Of course, it is still way too early to tell whether if the storm is coming or not, so I am not getting my hope up. I would have to see it to believe it.
Looks like some teasing for us in the Mid Atlantic too! Here's the mid shift discussion from Mt Holly NWS about this week's potential.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MOUNT HOLLY NJ
310 PM EST SUN MAR 14 2004
.SYNOPSIS...
A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA LATE
TONIGHT FROM WEST TO EAST. NOT A LOT OF MOISTURE WITH
THIS, THEREFORE JUST SOME SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED. SOME
DRYING TAKES PLACE DURING MON AS WINDS SHIFT TO THE
WEST AND NORTHWEST AND BECOME BRISK. HIGH PRESSURE THEN
BUILDS ACROSS EASTERN CANADA MON NIGHT INTO TUE. A STORM
SYSTEM ARRIVES FROM THE SOUTHWEST TUE AND LINGERS THROUGH
TUE NIGHT. YET ANOTHER STORM SYSTEM LOOKS TO AFFECT THE
REGION WED NIGHT AND THU. A COLD FRONT QUICKLY MOVES
THROUGH ON FRI, THEN DRY CONDITIONS SETTLE IN FOR SAT
AND SUN.
AN ACTIVE WEEK AHEAD WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR SOME
ACCUMULATING SNOW FOR PARTS OF THE CWA TUE AND TUE NIGHT, AND PERHAPS AGAIN ON THU.
.SHORT TERM DISCUSSION (TON-WED)...
20Z SFC ANALYSIS SHOWED A COLD FRONT DRAPED FROM EASTERN MI, SOUTHWARD ACROSS THE OHIO VALLEY. LOTS OF HIGH AND MIDLEVEL CLOUDS ACROSS THE CWA THIS AFTERNOON, HOWEVER LOW LEVEL MOISTURE IS VERY SLOW TO INCREASE. DEW POINTS STILL IN THE TEENS AND 20S ACROSS THE CWA THIS AFTERNOON. SHOWERS MOVING EASTWARD ACROSS WESTERN/CENTRAL PA ATTM, BUT HAVING A TOUGH
TIME INITIALLY DUE TO THE DRY AIR AT LOWER LEVELS (OBSERVED ON AREA 12Z SOUNDINGS). SOME SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED TO ARRIVE ACROSS THE CWA TONIGHT AHEAD OF THE FRONT, HOWEVER NOT IMPRESSED WITH QPF AMOUNTS. THE STRONGEST LIFT ACTUALLY SHIFTS TO OUR NORTH TONIGHT AS THE MAIN SHORTWAVE TRACKS ACROSS NY STATE. QPF LOOKS TO BE A TENTH OF AN INCH OR LESS ACROSS THE REGION TONIGHT. FROPA HAS SPED UP A BIT NOW AND CLEARS THE CWA PRIOR TO 12Z MON. WITH LOW LEVEL MOISTURE NOT IMPRESSIVE, INSTABILITY WILL BE HELD IN CHECK, THEREFORE NO
THUNDER EXPECTED WITH THIS FRONT. 850MB WINDS ON MON ARE PROGGED TO INCREASE TO 30-40 KNOTS. BUFKIT PROFILES SHOW SOME GOOD MIXING, ESPECIALLY DURING MON AFTERNOON. MOMENTUM TRANSFER (VIA BUFKIT) INDICATES 30 KNOTS OR SO. THEREFORE MON WILL TURN OUT BREEZY/WINDY AS PRESSURE GRADIENT AND 850 MB WINDS INCREASE.
NOW THE REAL INTERESTING PORTION OF THE SHORT TERM. HIGH
PRESSURE BUILDS EAST ACROSS SOUTHEAST CANADA MON NIGHT INTO TUE. SOME COLDER AIR WILL DRAIN SOUTHWARD AS THE LOW LEVEL FLOW GOES TO A MORE NORTHEASTERLY DIRECTION. ETA SHOWS A COLD AIR DAMMING SITUATION BETTER THAN THE GFS. SINCE THE ETA USUALLY HANDLES THIS BETTER, ITS THERMAL FIELDS ARE MORE LIKELY TO BE REPRESENTATIVE. WHILE THE ETA IS COLDER THAN THE GFS, THE GFS IS NOW A TOUCH COLDER ON TUE. ACTUALLY LOOKING MORE AT THE 12Z GFS, IT TOO HAS A MORE PRONOUNCED COLD AIR DAMMING SIGNATURE. OF NOTE IS THAT THE GFS HAS HIGHER QPF ACROSS THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN ZONES AND IS A
BIT FASTER, WHILE THE ETA HAS A BIT MORE QPF PAINTED UP
NORTH AND IS A LITTLE SLOWER. (DID LOOK AT SOME OTHER
MODELS BUT WILL NOT INCLUDE IN THIS DISCUSSION).
SO, WITH ALL THAT SAID, IT APPEARS THAT A WINTER STORM IS
POSSIBLE TUE FOR PARTS OF THE CWA. CHC FOR SOME ACCUMULATING SNOW ATTM APPEARS TO BE NORTH OF A LINE FROM BLM TO PHL, WITH A GREATER CHC OF SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ACROSS THE NORTHERN ZONES WHERE IT WILL BE COLDER. ACCUMULATING SNOW THIS TIME OF YEAR WITH A NOT SO COLD AIR MASS (BOUNDARY LAYER TEMPS COULD BE KEY TUE, PLUS SNOW FALLING DURING THE DAYTIME) IN PLACE CAN BE TOUGH, ESPECIALLY ON PAVED SURFACES (OF COURSE
UNLESS THE WET SNOW COMES DOWN HARD FOR A TIME). STAY TUNED!
PRECIP CONTINUES INTO TUE NIGHT AND THEN ENDS BY EARLY WED MORNING. WED DAYTIME SHOULD BE DRY AS THE CWA SHOULD BE BETWEEN SYSTEMS. AGAIN, TIMING OF THE SHORTWAVES WILL DETERMINE THIS. NEXT SHORTWAVE ATTM ARRIVES WED NIGHT AND THU.
.EXTENDED DISCUSSION (THU-SUN)...
THE PARADE OF SHORTWAVES CONTINUES AS 12Z MODELS CONTINUE TO SHOW ANOTHER STORM EFFECTING THE CWA WED NIGHT AND THU. INTERESTING THOUGH THAT THE 12Z GFS NOW HAS THE STORM A BIT MORE PROGRESSIVE, COMPARED TO YESTERDAY'S 12Z RUN WHICH RAPIDLY DEEPENED THE STORM OFF THE NJ COAST. MAJOR ISSUE THIS WEEK WILL BE THE TIMING OF THE SHORTWAVE ENERGY AS THEY MOVE ACROSS THE COUNTRY. DYNAMICS LOOK GOOD WITH THIS SYSTEM,
HOWEVER WITH THE QUICKER MOVEMENT PRECIP WILL BE LESS. AT ANY RATE, WE HAVE NOT CHANGED MUCH WITH THIS FORECAST PACKAGE GIVEN THAT GUIDANCE STILL IS DECENT ON THE OVERALL TIMING OF THE SHORTWAVES AND SFC LOW PRESSURE. PRECIP TYPE TRICKY AS DYNAMICS COULD LEAD TO RAIN CHANGING TO WET SNOW. WE WILL BRING RAIN/SNOW LINE UP TO THE I-95 CORRIDOR, WITH THE BEST CHC OF ALL WET SNOW ACROSS OUR NORTHERN ZONES. LOOKS LIKE MAINLY RAIN FOR THE SOUTHERN ZONES. 12Z GFS IS NOW A BIT SLOWER WITH THE COLD FRONT/CLIPPER TYPE SYSTEM ON FRI. HPC PROGS HAVE THE SYSTEM TO OUR EAST BY 12Z FRI, THEREFORE
WILL MAINTAIN FRI DRY ATTM.
HIGH PRESSURE THEN BUILDS EAST AND ACROSS THE CWA FOR FRI NIGHT AND SAT. A HINT OF A COLD FRONT APPROACHING FOR NEXT SUN, BUT THIS FAR OUT WE WILL KEEP SUN DRY. AT THIS POINT, NEXT WEEKEND DOES NOT LOOK TO BAD.

Get ready for the BIG ONE because Tomorrow I am going to help all you guys out who are looking for more snow to plow.
The grounds dept. is gearing up to start work on the sports fields this week and need both dump trucks so I will be taking the V-Box off the F-450 tomorrow and washing it and the truck down, so you can expect to see over a foot of snow sometime in the next 2 weeks for New England. Happens everytime I pull the V-Box before April 15th. plowing! LOL

Nbc30 update:
Tuesday: Cloudy. Snow developing around midday, possibly heavy at times through the late afternoon and evening. Several inches of snow are possible by Tuesday night. Highs around 35.
Wednesday: Cloudy skies. Flurries possible. Highs 35 to 40.
Thursday: Cloudy, with a chance of snow. Highs 35 to 40.
Friday: Mostly clouy. Chance of rain and snow showers. High around 40.
From the NBC30 Storm Center... Brace yourself for a very active weather week! Monday will be a nice day across the state, but things go downhill on Tuesday. A storm will move up the coast, spreading a swath of snow across Connecticut. The snow will continue through Tuesday evening. The potential exists for several inches of snow. Although it is too early to predict exact amounts, it is possible that some places could see over six inches of snow. The unsettled and cool weather will continue through the end of the week.

I have had my truck (s) ready to go at a moments notice.
Plows never came off.
I still don't think it will amount to much at all. The ground is fairly warm and it may it 50 today.... sooooooooooooooo
Prepare for the worse, expect the least !!
"Well, leaving it on now. LOL so the snow will probably get scared out to sea again!"
Ummm, excuse me Sir. You made a promise to your plow Brethren, and its very dishonorable to break such a promise. If this storm misses, we're all coming to school for a day, only we won't be looking for any edimicashon! lol.:grinz

At ten am nbc 30 says the new computer models show it a bit stronger and he is confident that most of connecticut will see 6 to 10 inches, some times coming down at 1 inch an hour and most of it should stick because its gonna cool down fast.:cash

Boston area 5" - 10" less on the cape. You wanted it and you got it at least one good storm to end the season. :D Then it will wash away on sat ans sun.
Forecast now is 2-4" tomorrow night in NW Vermont. I guess I'll saddle up another truck tomorrow, just in case. No way I'm going to consider plowing residentials unless we really get hammered, ground is too soft and I'm not in the mood to deal with complaints.

Come on Bill, I know you bought that ss X blade to curl sod and to see how far it will fly. HE HE:D
It was kinda crazy to see some landscapers out today doing a clean-up at a mall . When they it will snow on tues. You know they will have to reclean the sand of the grass.
This year feels like 97. Start with a big one then alot of 1-2'' storms then ends with a big one on april 1. Only time will tell if tomorro is the big one.
