I have been back to the other site- just to see what is up, and it is dead- the quality of posts was also greatly affected by the turn of events that lead us all here. All I can say is that I hope the hullaboo dies down soon- starting to remind me of the OJ Simpson case. We're here to discuss snow and ice, and rib on each other of course!! but most of all we're here to help one another out with any questions or problems that might arise!

Just my $.02

Hope it doesn't get me banned!!!

(Sorry- couldn't resist- now on to more important stuff!!)

Is there going to be something like ******** happening. Maybe Lawn Care contractors.com  I am sure there will be questions about lawn care in the summer and i dont think those of us who have switched from PS want to go ******** or ? :canada

11-19-2003, 10:09 AM
At least the people who 'thought' they were experts at PS, can now say their piece. Even though they can't even drive, much less plow snow- they have valuable, experience-based information to provide. Now that those of us who have run BOTH the plow AND the truck (vs just running the controller while daddy drives!) aren't there to hold them back, they can share their wealth of knowledge!

(here's to ya, parrot!!):drinkup ...wait- you can't do that either!!

Snowboy,
There are, & have been many alternate message board options for the Green Industry for years. There were only 3 dedicated to just snow up until a few weeks ago, and now there are 5 or so.

Yeah but none so good as the format and comeraderie found on this site. I would love to be a part of this type of site in the lawncare area.

For the green side of things, check out:

(alphabetical order, no favorites)

www.GroundTradesXchange.com

www.LawnCafe.com

www.LawnForums.com

These sites were started by the original Moderators and Members of another well know lawn care forum site....

And yes, I know two of them have snow forums....

I forgot to mention one thing..... I don't allow guests here. If you don't register, you can't read any of the Forums, in fact, you don't even see a Forum list. So chances are, any guests you do see, are registering :D

If not they are staring at the log on screen.....

I don't need a search engine to bring my site to a crawl while 30 spiders are indexing pages of the Forum......

I do just fine with the search engines now, and always have. I know "other" sites that pay for rankings. I am ranked high because I have the info people are looking for.

Not bragging, just stating fact.

Chuck, I tried to log on from the firehouse computer today, but it wouldn't accept my info and wanted me to register. Does an adjustment need to be made?

Pelican-
Do you have a firewall running on your computer? It might be blocking the cookies that are required to browse the site. Or it might be blocking almost everything but certain sites that have been granted permission also. Just a couple of things to check.

Which Department are you with? I have 13 years now with the West Monroe Vol. FD. I also have about 12 years with our local ambulance corps in the next town over.

Coming up on 25 years, Lagrange Volunteer Fire. Have served as Lieut., Capt. and presently as President.

I did the rescue thing for 5 years, but got burned out pretty quick with some bad calls. Still an Ambulance driver.

I'll check on the firewall. I was able to log on to my own site from there though, this one gave me a problem.

It's really kinda funny. I still get PMs from the other site once in a while. Like today. Apparently their usual "experts" aren't getting the job done. I actually visit about quarterly. vs here where I check in pretty much daily. Yep... my buddy Chuck has done a wunnerful thin. He done give us a place to call home. Anyone real serious about snow, I direct them here.

I also visit other site like Lawnforums, and GTX.

"Are you guys talking about

everythingsnow.com??? why is jay's site banned???

And Chuck you mean there really are people out there that don't know about this site... how is that possible....

Pete"

LOL - Pete, ya brought up a thread from a year ago, when we were first getting started here. Without reading back through the whole thread, Chuck doesn't want us to post links to other snow specific message boards, just like you wouldn't put your competitor's phone numbers on the sides of your trucks ;) So out of respect, most of us have not posted the links to P-site (the site that was probably the one you referred to as "banned"?),
P-cafe, et al. Sometimes they have been posted, and we left them. Ultimately Chuck understands that many of us will see & use those other sites, and encourages us to use all available tools to increase our knowledge. Last time I saw Jay's site I didn't see a message board there, so I'm pretty sure Chuck is OK with posting links to there. If he does have one, out of respect to Chuck & his efforts to provide this forum for us, we'd appreciate not posting the link, that's all.

And to answer your last question, ************* was the original & biggest of all of these forums and is where many of us came from. But Sean won't allow ANY mention of any other potential snow or lawn related message board links to be posted (the
V-Bulletin software automatically "bleeps" any mention of any of the other sites in the forums, PM's & Emails at the site). So unless members there happen to talk to other members here privately & this site gets mentioned to them, they don't know where many of the old members who no longer participate there disappeared to. So unless those members are doing any type of Google search that would bring them here, they assume we just dissapeared I guess. That's how it is possible.

szorno,
Its funny, I've recently gotten some PM's from there even though I haven't posted in around a year. Now that the season is upon us seems like some members there are seeking more detailed answers to some questions  ??

BRL,

The post mentioning Jay's site was not that of a competitors site, but that of ribbing ... We all know that Jay's site is more of a compliment to this site and by far not a competitor...

I Hope both Jay and Chuck no it just good old fashion ribbing that I usually throw out there... with the occasional bought of sanity..... maybe...

I also did not pay attention to the old post BRL... and I know about the other site.. I just don't speak of it any more... water under the bridge...

So I will say publicly that If I offended either Chuck or Jay.. I apology... as anyone who knows me, I am just a wise a## and don’t mean to offend anyone

Looking at Jay’s response … I think he took it that way also….
