I plowed for the 33rd time yesterday , with 3" new inches of snow and three foot drifts by the garage doors from the drifting it was a wintery day. We are supposed to get more snow tomorrow. We still have huge snowbanks everywhere . We just returned from a weeks vacation in Wash. D.C. and no snow to speak of anywhere in from central Michigan south to D.C. We saw a couple spots with a few new inches around Cleveland. Maybe a couple more weeks winter will wind down here. Think Spring
And I would like to have had even half of that:mad: . Just got back from the tax accountant last night. He warned me that the IRS is likely to question the legitamacy of my business unless I raise more revenue. To do that, we need more snow.
This year is not starting off well - one push.

Hi Mick,
It's hard to believe you don't get snow in Maine. Your temps got to be below freezing much of the winter, isn't it. Don't you get storms coming down from Canada ? We are supposed to get 6 inches tomorrow and more on Mon.

Here is a picture we took today showing we still have snow on the ground.
Don, for this area there's a 30-year average of 76". I base seasonal contracts on 12 pushes per year of 3" or more. This year I pushed a total of three times. Twice in December when we got 30" in two seperate snowfalls on 12/7 and 12/14. Then a bunch of 1" & 2" snowfalls that I didn't push until 2/22 when we got 10". Total snowfall for the winter - 55".
Since 90% of this state depends on groundwater & private wells, I think we're in trouble for next summer. Fortunately, when I had my well drilled, I sank it to an aquifer that feeds a lake.
This is the third winter in a row of below average snowfall, but this is worst. I heard we're in a two or three year draught. Hopefully, it'll turn around next winter.
The worst part is that it got so cold in January (30 below) that it froze further down than usual. The cold fronts then pushed the snowfalls further south. Also, we typically get a January thaw which allows snow to melt into groundwater. So all that together, what snowpack there was only melted and ran off. Now that the ground thawing out, there is nothing left. I was talking the other day to a guy who said his stream is already dry - the first time he'd ever seen it go dry.
I think we're in trouble.
