hey guys,
I was looking at some skid steers today. My choices case, bob cat,
john deer and new holland. What kind do you have? How does it perform for plowing? What plow blade/box should I pick? I dont have a blizzard dealer around here sooo...Also, if you have any pictures that would be cool.
Thanks,

Some background would help to answer that question.
What size lots?
Will this be a site dedicated machine or will it travel or be towed?
Do you have use for it other than snow?
How much are you looking to spend?
We currently have a 953 and like it very much for snow work and loading spreaders. Unfortunately it is a little too slow for just plowing work but we do have the blizzard on it and it has worked fine when plowing. A pusher is fine depending on the size and weight of the machine and the size of the pusher.

One of my guys has a 2001 New Holland LS170 with high reach. (or whatever they call it) Nice machine. Very dependable. You have to reverse the wheels to put chains on. that's a pain. so we just put sipe cuts in each tire. Not as good as chains, but better than 1/2 worn stock tires. We have an 8 ft blade with wings we got from the Bobcat dealer. We can windrow like a truck, or push like a pusher. Not as good as either but a great cross-breed machine.

We just bought a bobcat s 175. Right now we just use the bucet for stacking and plowing a small school lot, and their adjacent walks. A must is cab and heat, ortherwise your operator will have a long night clearing snow. We are planning to convert an extra 7.5' plow that we have to a pusher type box.
The primary reason I went with the skid had to due with rental charges that we applied to the purchase price of the machine.

I'm looking at the Gehl and Deere. The Gehl seams to be a very nice machine it has t-bar control which is left hand controls f/r and left and right turns the right hand controls the bucket, it has an excelarator on the floor as well as being able to go 8.5 mph with a standed hyd. floe of 19gpm.And that is the base smallest machine with a 115 hinge pin hieght and 1400lb lift .The Deere is great for servecing and has a roll up door but speed and hydo flow are less. Both can have a/c as option.www.gehl.com or www.jonhdeere.com .
