Pickering-
At the truck show in Baltimore, the Blizzard rep said by late april they will have an 8611 designed for 1 tons. He said it wouldnt be quite as beefy as the current 8611 and would only weigh around 60 more lbs than the 810. You may want to talk to jerre about that as i know i am now holding out for one of those models if i end up trying to get one. Good luck on the new truck

Both Jerre and Mike Nelson run 8611s on their F-350 SRWs. I don't know if either have been on a scale with them to see if the axle is overweight, but they have been plowing successfully with them.

Steve I think I recall Jerre saying at something about weighing his truck at John Parker's Picnic last Fall.

I bet he kept the scale ticket. Fred, try calling him if you have his number.

If you send Jerre a Private Message from here, he will definitely get that, vs hoping he sees this thread. Though I'm pretty sure he'll see it when he signs in, because I'm pretty sure when he visits SC.com, he probably checks out this forum... maybe ;) Also, if you can't wait for him to arrive here, he has his phone number in his signature, just find one of his posts. Good luck with the new set up!

Fred, As for the 810's currently have 2 left in stock. I've got one 8611 but it's been used on my truck for the winter.

Over what???????

The scale ticket for the 810 with the wing and the 680 in the bed as well as my brother in law and I and our stuff for the BBQ read in at 9980 total with an 11000GVW.

Front axle was 5800 and the rear was 4180.

The 810 that weights in at 990# on it's own put 750# of cutting edge weight down on the scale.

Havent been on a scale with the 8611 but would put it at about 6400 on the front axle.

Brian, I know there were alot of discussions about the new design on the 8611. It's still in the prototype mode from all the discussions. I will be very very supprised if it comes out for this years production as an offered model. I seriously would look for it to be a limited late year production run of a few test plows.

Seriously I'm hoping for a 912 not an 8611. I see alot more benifit from a plow that gets out to the 12' range as many 9' straight blades here are running bolt on wings that take them to 11' and they will be a hard sell if they can't get more width.

On the positive side for Fred. Ford is looking at offering the a larger axle option for the 250's and 350's for increased front end loading. I know the DRW unit uses a larger rotor on the front and rear for more breaking and a larger front GVW and this is an available option for the SRW trucks now.

Jerre do you have any specs on the 9612? Whats the intended apps for that? 26k and up?

Also what improvements to the 8611 do you expect?

Thanks, JD.

Fred,

Let me know if you are going to make the trip. I have mounts avail but am hangning them on 250's and 350's for a dealer so I'll have to make sure I have one when you would be down.

JD, No specs as all is in the design phase.

The factory is looking at a reduced size and weight 8611 to fit the 4500/5500 Cheve's more than the 450/550 Fords. There is also the ability to go on the 250/350's and some of the 2500/3500 Cheve's and some of the 2500/3500 Dodges if they can get the weight down enough. I'm sure the 810 will benifit as well with a little trimming of the weight could be possible.

I'm hoping to get them to make them 9' to 12' instead. Read 912 not 9'6-12'6. The current 8611 goes from 8'6" to 11'3" or 2'9" of extension. They can tweak it a little to get 3' of extension. This would make a 8'6" blade go to 11'6" and a 9' blade go to 12'.

They are looking at larger than the current 8611 blades for the municipal market but that is still down the line a ways. These will be targeted at the F650 and larger trucks. I'm really hoping they do a BIG GET WIDE and go with an 11' blade that extends. Alot of the muni trucks are running 10' and 11' or larger blades to begin with. One can always dream is what I say.
