Just got done with my first contract and the plow shuts off. I turn the power back on and the power shuts off again. The joystick still has power, and there is a clicking noise coming from the cover and my battery light in the truck is flickering. Any suggestions while I wait for the auto parts store to open?
Thanks,
Rick

If the battery light is flickering the first thing I would do is check the battery voltage and your Alternator output. This alone could cause the controler to shut down and the solenoid to just click

I agree... Need to get that fixed A.S.A.P.

You can do some damage to systems by spiking and drawing down voltage.

Check all connections, make sure your grounds are clean and secure. Along with the plow plug.. Get a hold of jerre and pick up an extra shoebox controller...

I check the battery and alternator and both are fine. The plow began to work before I checked those two items and I was able to finish my accounts, but the lights on the plow aren't working. It's the only thing that's not working. And the clicking noise went away. I triple checked the connections and not even a flicker from the lights. Battery light is not on anymore either. Frustrating first day of a new small business owner.:o

MMMMMMMMMM

I wonder if your alt belt was slipping. would cause this situation. You stopped for a while and now it's not doing it. Meaning the heat from the engine dried the belt and now it's ok. A belt does not need to make noise to slip.

May be a dumb question, but is the ground connected to the battery?

Ground is connected. I did check that right away.

Sorry for the late follow up and thanks for the suggestions. Turned out I had a bad brain box that runs the plow and the lights. Everything seems to be working good now. Hopefully we get some snow more than the inch every 36-48 hours we've been getting....

BOSS does not run a "brain box" (Module) in their plows. They have one relay that controls power to the controller circuit and 4 relays for headlight switching and the printed circuit board in the controller which is nothing more than some switches and circuitry.

The relays look like a black ice cube with 5 prongs sticking out of it but I do not know how that could be bad because you said the controler powered up and went into float. Did they show you what they changed?

Sounds as if the mulitplexing box went bad

The Boss and Meyers plows dont have one thats what still sets them apart from the DD plows. It totally assine in my opinion to put multiplexing on a plow to begine with but i guess it make diagnostics easier
