Just clicked on it by accident and saw that it is shut down due to lack of funds. That sux. I'd pay to be able to have the forecasting back again.

No big loss to me it didnt seem like he was ever right on his predictions for us...

I liked his site. Pretty good job of boiling down the discussions. Also, for me, he was more accurate than the weather.com folks when it came to his predictions. I would say that he hit totals about 90% of the time. I followed his, weather.com, noaa, and the local tv and he was usually on the money.

I was comptemplating a subscription, but in our contracts we go out whenever there is any precip and Gary only posted when there was 2" or more in the works. For storms he was great but i needed a more full service forecast. Maybe his subscription service offered more....

Adam's,
To be fair, he really didn't forecast for your area. And he definitely stated he doesn't forecast lake effect, which I believe is a big factor for your snow weather. So in your case I agree that tracking his forecasts would be a fruitless effort.

He was posting for fun really, so that's why he only posted for the big storms. Before this year's subscription he never made any money on the winter posts. I tracked him for over 4 seasons now & his accuracy has far outdone any other forecaster around here. And he's 3 or 4 hundred miles from here lol, so that says something to me. The next best local casting has been right about half to 2\3 as much as he was over that time period. But with covering the Mid Atlantic & most of the NE, I can see where he wouldn't verify that well in each location for sure. The local forecast offices are covering around 100 -150 diameter miles of area (sorry too tired to do the math right now lol), and usually can only verify in the 50-60% range. So for someone to cover that big of an area & still get it pretty close for most of it is pretty impressive IMO. I sure can't do that lol.

I know earlier this year he asked for people to subscribe to the service, or it might be cancelled, unfortunity he didn't include my location in his forecasts, so I didn't subscribe. I'll miss his input because generally we get the weather from the northeast.

I just enjoyed reading how he broke down each model and forcast and he put his own thinking in on it. He really gave you an idea of what the local weatherman was talking about. I will miss reading his updates and looking forward to them. Just my two cents.

FWIW I did pony up the money for the subscription, and he is still providing forcasts for us. ALthough few forcasts will be needed for the remainder of this season. I hope he will provide the ay service next year tho. If more people would have payed the man fo his time, maybe he would be able to continue. He was gennerally pretty accurate IMO. What I liked was the fact that he gave alot of heads up time for an upcoming event.
