My dealer says I can't get the plow prep pkg on my new 04 3500 long wheel base (84") deisel.
He says specs say it's too heavy.
Can I after mkt this? Will it void my wrnty?

Well even though the dealer can not get you the plow prep you can still put a plow on it ,BUT like you said it will void the warrenty on the truck.I have seen long wheel base trucks with plows on them .To tell ya the truth unless your doing highways with them they can be a pain in a small lot.

Herbie...... Check the www.gmbuypower site. See if you
can build the truck the way you want it. Then see the dealer.
The water is sorta muddy on some diesel truck applications.
Yes....Cat is right ..If you put a plow on a non plow prep GM
the dealer Can and WILL deny any warranty service.
I have been there and done that with my 97 Chevy!...geo

What is the advantage to a lower wheelbase and a shorter wheelbase other then the obvious fact of turning radious?

Define "long wheelbase (84")" for us.
Crew cab?
Ext. Cab?
I'm pretty sure you CAN get it on a reg cab/diesel.
Just what is that 84" number?

He can only deny if he can prove the plow was a result.
I had an explorer and they tried that with me on a truck that ahdn't even seen winter yet. Prduction date was 5/94 and the engine went out 9/7/94 and it had a fisher push plate on it, they said it was cause of the plow.
It had never pushed snow yet.
No they can not deny warrenty claims on the truck cause it has a plow, they can only deny if the tranny goes out from plowing.
Don't let anyone play you on it.
BTW my '04 Ram does not have plow pre, and it has a plow and has plowed snow.
Had to take it in for a recall and they replaced the tanny lines and cooler without question.

It's a reg cab with 84" cab to chassis. I plan on putting a behind cab tool box followed by a dump bed. So I need the longer wheel base. Probably the same as if I were going to get an extended cab with a long bed.

Ok makes sense now I tell ya any thing other than the 131 or 137" in the c&c will be a pain to plow in small lots I mean real small .If your doing bigger ones I would not see too much of a problem other than not being able to cut your corners as good goining around islands ans stuff.

gmbuypower site says, or lets me add the plow prep.
The guy selling the truck is a good friend of mine and he says his 'build a truck' software at the dealership won't let him add the plow prep.
