Anyone have any snow in the forecast? It's 60 degrees here today and no cold weather is expected for a while. Haven't plowed since the end of January.:(

Weatherbug is predicting snow for this area on Thursday and Sunday. I don't think it'll be enough to plow or stick around for any length of time, though. Temps have been in the 40s and will stay in the 30s and 40s for the next few days.

Accuweather hints at something for next week but that can always change. The local guys here have been hinting too but dont want to say much.

I would like to see several more storms . The four plowable events here so far wont even be close to covering the expenses . :(

Was almost 70 here yesterday, today rain changing to snow and accumulating snow tomorrow. And snow showers Tuesday and then at the end of the week

Pittsburgh set a record high yesterday--78 degrees. Snow flurries or showers in the forecast for Sunday and Monday, with lows reaching the upper 20's. I can't imagine anything sticking on the pavement though. We haven't had any appreciable snow since Punxatawny Phil forecast six more weeks of winter. Dam* rodent....

I heard about two to three inches of slush here.If it was during the daylight it probably wouldnt stick much but because its coming at night they expect the morning commute to be messy. Then maybe more snow wednesday but that storm could miss.

Supposed to be getting a little more than 2 inches today into this evening. It's snowing now,and starting to stick,so it looks as if we will have to do something with it tonight.

I missed the noon forcast is boston north gonna get anything?

BRL

BWhite,
Where'd you see 4"-7" for NYC?? Here's the NYC NWS office cast for NYC. Their forecaster for this afternoon shift mentioned the models are showing slightly higher QPF than originally thought in the discussion, but not that drastic of a possible change. Further north in NY like closer to Albany might get a real snow if they don't start as rain.

We should get a good salt run in mon night\tue morning here at least, and possibly monday morning during the snow? But that looks highly doubtful with temps bouncing right back into the 40's and the lows predicted to only be mid 30's. Can't see too much ice forming during the snow with those conditions :( But mon night lows are supposed to be in the 20's here at least.

NYC's forecast:

I saw it on the noon news here . It was Channel 5 WCVB weather . He said anyone taking the shuttle there tommorrow would be greeted by 4-7 inches . I take no responsiblity for their accuracy, LOL

They are calling for 1-3 inches tonight with a total of about 5 by tomorrow afternoon. That would be perfect! Give us a chance to use the last of our salt!!!

We'll see......

Well, we've got a couple of inches of slush that has stuck around. The city's out salting now. We're gonna head out in a couple hours to scrape/salt whatever might need it.

Nothing here. :( Just a little white covering on the grass areas. It's been too warm for it to stick to pavement.

Yesterday (Sunday) they were calling for 1-2 inches last night, I went to bed around 11 and got up at 3 and there was at least 2 inches and still snowing. I got on the road and it was covered with at least two inches. The Lowes store I do is about 10 miles north of were I live. As I got closer there was less and less snow. When I arrived I found 7acres of wet pavement! Had breakfast and was home by 4:15a.m. The plows were out on my road when I got home. I went from thinking at least a salt run to another plow to nothing!

BRL
03-08-2004, 05:07 PM
Man that's just torture dynamike! Sorry to hear that.

We got about 2.25" of snow on the grass etc. this AM, then some rain during the afternoon. There was about an inch on the pavements for about an hour or 2 then it melted. No need to salt it, but tonight it's still showering\mixing a little still & supposed to dip below freezing. So my original forecast of a salt run tomorrow AM is still looking good :cash

to quoate Damon Wayans

"UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...NO"

Just like the the report that you heard for NYC that said they were gonna get 4"- 7" with this last storm.

The possibility of this happening may be good, but the probability is not.

The forecasts I am hearing are that these are all small disturbances and weak at that. We can expect snow showers and minor accumulations but I doubt we will get dumped on.

Sorry to burst your bubble my friend:greenange

Hey Bill,
I forgot to post the verification for ya. NYC got maybe an inch. So if your foot of snow prediction came from "Channel 5 WCVB", you might want to relax a bit. ;)

Jeff,
The forecasts you are talking about are the weather for today, tonight, and into tomorrow; then possibly again Thur night & Friday (the weak disturbances you mention - they are "short waves" rotating around a big axis of low pressure parked over the NE somewhere). The Nor Easter that Bill is referring to is the real deal. It is cruising across the northern SE today\tonight & will form into a classic Nor Easter off the Carolina coasts tomorrow. It will be "bombing out" deep & be one of the bigger more powerful ones of the season, but cruisng over the Atlantic instead of the US. Now, what we need is for it to drift a little west so we can get in on some of the action. Half of the models are casting just that, while the other half are keeping it on the originally forecast track of being mostly out in the ocean. If it does take the more westerly track, you folks north of this area should have enough cold air to get a healthy dumping of snow. Here the low level air will still be pretty warm & cause the snow to probably change to rain for most of the event. But if it can take its time a little, and take the right track & have the heavier bursts of precip happen at night here, we could even get plowable snow around here.

Jay! JAY!! Wake up & boogie young man, its your time to shine! :grinz

HEY ALL.......Hate to gloat but we got 3" of "white gold" in
Hannibal NY overnite ! Sure felt good to get back in the
"saddle" again !
Thankfully the wind and snow came down from the NW off
Lake Ontario and nailed us! Gotta love that lake effect !

Hope the snow gods hit us all one more time with our March
blizzard!....................geo:grinz

I am getting the feeling this area may see some healthy amounts of snow . Time to dust off the plows ?

JCurtis

But I will believe it when I see it. I am not going to get overly excited about a potential snow storm that may not occur.

...COASTAL STORM FORECAST TO PASS SOUTHEAST OF THE TRI-STATE AREA
WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY...

...MINOR TO LOCALLY MODERATE COASTAL FLOODING POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY
NIGHT...

LOW PRESSURE WILL DEVELOP ALONG THE CAROLINA COAST TONIGHT AND IS
FORECAST TO TRACK SLOWLY NORTHEAST AND INTENSIFY ON WEDNESDAY.
THE STORM IS EXPECTED TO IMPACT THE TRI-STATE AREA WEDNESDAY NIGHT
AND THURSDAY AS IT PASSES TO OUR SOUTHEAST. ON THE CURRENT FORECAST
TRACK...THE TRI-STATE AREA SHOULD SEE A MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW
WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY...WITH THE HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION
PASSING TO OUR SOUTHEAST.

THE AREAS WITH THE BEST CHANCE TO SEE HEAVIER AMOUNTS OF
PRECIPITATION FROM WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY WILL BE ACROSS
EASTERN LONG ISLAND AND SOUTHEAST CONNECTICUT. A MORE WESTERLY TRACK
COULD RESULT IN A SIGNIFICANT PRECIPITATION EVENT FOR THE ENTIRE
REGION...WHILE AN EASTWARD SHIFT WOULD RESULT IN LITTLE OR NO
PRECIPITATION FOR THE TRI-STATE REGION.

TEMPERATURES WILL ALSO PLAY A BIG PART IN HOW THIS STORM UNFOLDS. WE
WILL ONLY BE MARGINALLY COLD ENOUGH AT THE LOWER LEVELS FOR
SNOW...MEANING THAT THE PRECIPITATION COULD FALL AS MAINLY
RAIN IN THE CITY AND ALONG THE COAST. BUT...AS IS THE CASE WITH
STORMS AT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR...THE CHANCES OF SNOW INCREASE AT
NIGHT AND IN HEAVIER PRECIPITATION.

IN ADDITION...STRONG NORTHEASTERLY WINDS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS LOW
WILL OCCUR WEDNESDAY NIGHT. THE NORTHEASTERLY FETCH WILL PILE UP
WATER ALONG THE COAST...WHICH MAY RESULT IN MINOR TO LOCALLY
MODERATE COASTAL FLOODING AROUND THE TIMES OF HIGH TIDE WEDNESDAY
NIGHT.

STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO AND OTHER LOCAL MEDIA FOR FURTHER
DETAILS OR UPDATES.

LOL Bill.

I hear ya Jeff, this one is definitely in the "I'll believe it when I see it category"

For a week or so this one was cast to be an out to sea event that wouldn't affect us. Suddenly late last night & this AM it was going to swipe the coast or even further inland. And then by this afternoon they are all back to the original forecast almost lol :scramble :beatsme . Weathermen are having fun torturing us cause they've heard a lot of you cursing them throughout the winters :headwall :argue ;)
