I am having trouble getting my truck into Hi Loc and Low Loc. The shifter moves from Hi to Low and Neutral but no further. I put lock-outs on the front axle and installed the Mile Marker conversion kit per the instructions. Does anyone have an idea where I should start looking? Thanks.

I'd start by checking the linkage adjustment first.

You may find you need to lock the front hubs first, then with the truck in nuetral, and barely rolling forward, try to put in to the LOC position. This is now the 4WD,as you have installed the conversion kit.

If that stuff doesn't help,it may be possible you made a mistake when installing the kit.

Make absolutly sure you installed the pipe elbow on the fill hole, and overfill the transfer case to the top of the pipe elbow, even a little more if you can get it in there. The NP203 is lubed by the chain bringing lubricant up to the rear portion of the case.By installing the kit,you stop the chain turning in 2WD,and it will burn up the rear section of the transfer case.

I haven't had good luck with the kits, and have converted all my trucks back to OEM.

some kits dont disable the lubing feture of the 203. Some do.....I cant remember what ones do or not though.

Did it work before you installed the kit and just not after?

Any part time kit will affect lubrication,as the chain is what brings the oil up.All the kits must stop the chain from turning to get 2WD.

I've opened up lots of them, with many different kits, and they all suffer from excessive wear in the rear section of the case.

The kits which did not include the pipe elbow, the installer didn't install it,or the oil wasn't overfilled, usually suffered bearing failure in short order after 2WD use.

I am not sure whether it was working before the kit was installed. Has anyone made the swap to a NP205? Is it easy?

How would one know if a part time kit has been installed on the 203?

Put the truck in 4HI,and unlock the hubs.Truck in park, crawl under and see if you can turn the front driveshaft. If you can,it has a part-time kit installed.

Another sign is the fill hole will have a pipe elbow in it,instead of a regular plug.
