I dont want to appear as a jerk...but I would like to help your grammar.

in the sentence, "What else would i HAFT to do?", HAFT is not the correct word. A haft is the handle on a tool or a weapon.

"what else would I HAVE to do?" is correct.

again, not trying to sound like the grammar police, just trying to help you out.

EFI or Carb?

But first....why?

There are tons of crate engines out there that are cheaper and more suited to trucks of your era.

Try the Goodwrench Target engine. Think they're around $1200. Need more, then there's the few that are in the 300-350 range.

Carb route? You'd need to find an intake that will accept a carb, as vortec heads are different than a regular 350 head.

If you can get all the electronics for it that would be great. As for swicthing it to carb. I dont think it would run right. The vortec heads are made just for fuel injection. not carbs. So i dont know how it would affect the fuel/air getting to the cylinders. But if you can get all the electronics and ECM. That would be great for that truck. Im sure the grammer ploice will correct this for me LOL.

vortec heads will work just dandy on a carbed motor. Edelbrock and others make intakes to put carbs on vortec headed motors.

If you want FI then yes that can work too but its more of a PITA to deal with all the injection.

BTW Vortec motors were used before 97, they just used difffernt injection. DO you want to go carbed or what? What is your plan with this motor? More info please:)

I would like to use an Edelbrock 750cfm carb on it. I can get the vortec intake for $150 on ebay.

well if you are going carbed then it would be like putting any normal SBC in there.

You got a deal on a motor or what?

They have roller cams in them they also have fast burn heads so they come stock with more HP.
