Ok I'm done fulling around with this quadrajet. I am going to replace it. I have an 84 with a 305. should I buy the edelbrock 1406 or the holley 570. or other suggestions ? is there something that bolts on to my oem manifold ? how about my tv valve hook up ? Lots of questions...

I would rebuild,or buy a rebuilt Quadrajet. They can't be beat for overall performance, driveability, and fuel mileage.

I agree with wyldman on the quad. Once they are set right they are a great carb. But i do find if you buy a rebuild its like $200 more then a Edelbrock. this fall i put a edelbrock 650CFM on my 350 in my plow truck and im very happy with it its real easy to tune and great throttle response and fuel milage didnt drop any from what the quad got. SO im happy with the edelbrock it cost me like $230 plus a $15 spacer you need so it bolts to your stock intake. But i did keep my quad and i bought a rebuild kit for it.
IF your capable of rebuilding it i would do that the kit was like $35. you cant beat that.
As for holly for the road i havent had great luck with them i think there great for the drag strip but for street i do not like them. But they are getting better.

get a reman quadrajet I just put one on my 1980 3/4 and it is like a new truck bolted it on and went no ajudstmens needed for $130 from orielys I went from hard to start with 5-8 mpg to two pumps and crank with 10-15mpg with 10k on the trailer

oh 1 more thing I went for the reman over the rebuild my self so that I did not have to mess with a sloppy throttle shaft and any other hidden problems plus it was snowing as hard as it could so 10 min and I was rolling
