I'd grab it if I were closer, but I'm sure someone here could use another plow. It looks like it's already had some "Serviceability Improvements" done to it....

The second time I looked at this, I noticed something. It doesn't look like there is a right side wing on the plow.... That's kind of odd...

The deal-breaker on a lot of them would be me having to drive 8-10 hours to pick them up....

I agree, I'm sold on them and the increased productivity they provide. Not only that, but their superior quality compared to their newer Red and Yellow counterparts. I'm buying one, it's just a matter of finding one for a good price in decent/good shape. :wink

The new guy is wondering if that would work on a 2001 Suburban 2500 series or is it to heavy? I am not far away and the mount may be the same as I know the Meyers mounts (ez classic) for the 2500 series are the same as the Silverado pickup. Anyone have any thoughts on the Blizzard mounts being the same on the silverado and suburban? I have learned so much from reading the forum in the past couple weeks and wanted to say thanks in advance for everyone's help.

I am going to be honest and straight up about that sentence.. There is ALOT of room for improvements on both new and OLD designs my 2nd run on my white plow I hit a storm drain hard 20mph and it really bent the cutting edge, snapped one of the edge bolts off and bent the whole plow... And another thing, if you are really rough on your plows, the white plow will not hold up.. period. You would be better off with one of the straight blades. BUT the white plow shines in productivity and scraping ability.. I am not afraid to admit i really whomp on my plows, hard I push hard and stack high with them.. on average there is a 11-12,000 pound truck pushing my 810... maybe that's the reason its not holding up to my expectations.... lol but us country folk do things a little different than most as well.

Did you look into getting a 8611 blizzard ? Because thats what I am looking at . The specs seemed higher. I know the weight was.( I think 1200 pounds fromwhat I remember. I was going to get one for a skidsteer and possibley one for a 4x4 cab over dump. Your really making me think twice here.

I think there is a difference between the 2500 and 2500 HD frames. Someone else may chime in on this, but I fairly certain.

You will be fine with the 8611, but like Walt said if the driver is real tough on equipment it won't last long, but actually not many plows will last long if you are hard on them.

The one for the truck is for me personally, and like most on this sight gota enough time in to be quick, efficient, and not destructive. This next truck " I'm planin on goin all the way", it wont leave the shop even if it takes a full year to fab it the way I want it.:weld
I'll leave the rest with BOSS, the monkeys cant seem to wreck them.:grinz
As for the 8611 on the bobcat, I'll stick with one first and see how they take care of it.

Walt Im suprised to hear you are tweaking the 810 easily. My truck weighs more than yours, and I push pretty hard, hard enough to tear up the boss 9'2" v in 2 seasons. My truck is always 12000+lbs...I am using the urethane wings though, they do help reduce stress on the wings.Ive partially sheered one pin,and bent 6 angle cylinders, thats about it.Drivers wing is bent above the slidebox,we bent it back, and rewelded it,but otherwide its a tank, not many plows would still be operational after what i put this plow thru...

Walt had some fun tearing his down when he got it. Had the typical pin frozen in from no lubrication. The split tubes to get the pins out worked but the tubes take ALOT of stress and the welds gave way. Course he's right. He got hit with Tons of snow at once and put her thru her paces in a short hurry. Once the bugs are out of his refurb antique it will run like a dream. Now we just got to get that transfer case issue taken care of.

Ditto to that John.
I burned the scale ticket I had from a full load of salt, and the 810 up front.
Erie #4 has lived up to her expectations 10 fold. That poor plow has been run hard and put away wet. Only steel on my wings as well, hated the poly wings. It gets worked hard every run, J' and Fred seen my stacking pics, every storm she works like a dog. Maybe the Niemalas and Timex were in cahoots...

Walt, I don't mean to imply that they are invincible, I think we can all agree that nothing is. One of my buddies that I plow with bought a new Wideout this year. After looking at a few Blizzards both in the past and just in the last few weeks, there are some MAJOR differences that will lead to reliability and structural issues.
Either way, my desicion is to go with an older (pre-DD) Blizzard when compared to the alternatives.

The one post-DD 810 we have here has been the one to put on the most weight since joining the group. There's a few boxes of rod put into that plow.

Saw the 8100 up close and personal on Wednesday at the Landscape Ontario Show. I figured with all the trimming they've done, the price would reflect it.
Kooy's installed price: $7975 plus tax (13%)
J - standing order placed for pre-DD plows, 1 per year, next 4 years.

Thanks guys, I'm just happy I found one that was in good shape for a decent price. I can probably get a couple pushes out of them, but after looking at it again tonight, they are worn down more than I had originally thought. Oh well, such is the way it is with used equipment.

I dont really need another plow John, 3 is probably enough for one guy, however for a screaming deal in the spring or summer, I wont hesitate to pick up another blizzard. Hopefully this coming season things will improve, and I can pick up a few more decent accounts and put one of the other trucks back on the road.

John,
What do you have on your front end? I have the 2.5 Kore leveling kit on my 07 with the 6.7, and it squats alot more than yours does. Even with 1500#s of ballast in the bed, it still squats it pretty good. Your truck looks great with the plow by the way.

John, I have a 3" Procomp "leveling kit" up front with stock springs. I've been told that the "sport" package uses a different spring rate, but I haven't verifed the spring code yet. I only have about 500# of weight in the bed too.

Instead of starting a new thread, I'll just add to this one.
After replacing the edges (from Jerre with the Xtendors), the plow scrapes 100X better, but seems to really drop the front end of the truck down. I bought a set of Timbrens and added a spacer to help due to the 3" front 'lift'. The push beam is down as far as it can go without making custom sideplate extensions, so I want to remove the 3" spring spacer in favor of a 1.5" spacer. The A-frame is tipped up a bit towards the truck, and I want to eliminate this as much as possible. A smaller tire would help as well, but these are what I have for now and the price was right...

Yes, I still have garland on the front porch posts. It's been too cold and snowy (or rainy) to take it down and get it packed away. At least I don't turn the lights on at night anymore, lol.

I doubt we'll see anything from this either, and there's nothing else in teh long-range it doesn't look like.
Branden is selling his Meyer Mini Jr that I am thinking about making him an offer on. It's only a 400# cap unit that I would have to fill fairly frequently and only run bagged through, but if the price is right, it wouldn't be bad. I still think I'd rather have a Salt Dogg or something to be able to hold mroe capacity and possibly run bulk salt if I decided to. What's your thought?

Personally, If I were in your shoes....and what could potentially come your way next season:wink....get something that is slightly more than what you need "right now". Which would be a small Elec. Vbox (Snowex or Dogg would be my choice). I may pickup a tailgate unit for next year, depending on what happens....but it would only be for spot salting/backup, with my dump being the mainline salter and still having my walk crew as an additional backup salter. Its suprising though what 3 guys running behind push spreaders can accomplish:D

Johnny, What's your center of fork measurement to the ground with the blade off, or down? Can also measure pin height, or center of push beam to ground. Blizzard says 12 inches, IIRC. I personally prefer higher, it will scrape better if the A frame is angled down, ie won't ride up. This will sacrifice some wing edge wear, but with carbides, shouldn't be too bad. I'll get some pics of mine for you.

John, I think it's close to 14", might be a bit higher though. I was under the impression that this would be too high, hence wanting to take that 1.5" out of the front suspension.

I measured it for you tonight John. With 900-1000# in the bed and little or no pressure in the airbags it reads 15.5" That's higher than I thought. The leveling kit swap should be pretty easy, only take a few hours and an alignment since I'm going to remove the track bar drop bracket too.
I'd really like to be right around 14", no higher. From the sounds of it, that should work alright for me, right?
