Hi all - what is the typical reason GM truck power windows tend to go up so slowly when they get some age ? Is it simply looking for more power, or is there something else ? Thanks

with my 84 the motor was tired so it lacked the power to push up also it doesn't hurt to grease the window tracks well.

i have an 80 blazer and all the window's were slow.....the litheum grease from the factory gets dirt build up......i took my door panels off and sprayed all the mechanism's and tracks with new litheum grease............they work fine now......
Cleaning and regreasing all moving areas is a good start to making the window move a little faster. Try changing the run channels. As they age, they lose the fine "hair" that lets the window slide nicely. After a while you have a nice smooth piece of rubber, rubber grips the window and slows it down. Don't use lithium grease on the channels either, it makes them real sticky and then you are throwing the channels away. After the run channels have been changed, adjust the window for tilt. If the window tilts, it would cause it to go slow or go slow then fast. Hope this helps.

Guys, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how to check the window for "tilt". Does it just mean level within the frame? Both of the windows in my 87 Blazer are very slow going down, but go up normally. I took these motors out of a donor Suburban, and they worked fine when I tested them on the bench. I greased everything as best I could when I had everything open. I will look at the run channels again. Thanks for your help
