????
***** ******, you sent 2 (which I used) and I picked up another at the grainger location 5 minutes from my house when I went there to get a fan speed control (rheostat) (http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/productdetail.jsp?xi=xi&ItemId=1611605723&ccitem=) to turn back the speed on those motors, kinda hard to spread salt on a 20' wide driveway when it throws the salt 50' wide. I figured why not, only $20 I will think of something to use it on.
Guess next time I will save my money and not do another How-To that shows others how to take an hour and make something useful.

Nate,
Thanks for the post. I thought that was the reason for this site to help one another out. I just bought a new motor but sure would like to see how the rest of yours works.

Thanks for the info Nate.

Maybe we could talk you into finishing this How-To posting before deciding to not share for the future?? Please?? I'd really like to see how you set it up. Thanks.
I'll take a stab at filling in some blanks for fun. Nate recently visited Jerre. Sounds like Nate picked up a couple of salt spreader motors among the other things he picked up while there? Then maybe Jerre saw this post & felt snubbed by Nate? But I don't think Nate meant a snub by it, just that everybody isn't going to go to Jerre's place, but everybody can easily shop online or local at a Grainger or other similar type supplier to get one of these motors. That's my version from this writing session of "As the World Turns"
Stay tuned for scenes from the next episode where Steve's girlfriend enters the fray, she gets the boys so fired up they end up throwing spreader spinners at each other like frisbees...

The poly spinners hurt alot less than the steel ones.

well I was doing the posting as I went along. I was using scrap aluminum for my base because I had some handy, anywhoo my high frequency board in my tig took a dump so that put me behind a day, I decided to drill and tap the base because tapping holes is cheaper then buying/renting a welder. the first base is made out of ¼" aluminum and the second one will be made out of the 10 gauge plate I am showing the aluminum one because it is what I have to work with.....
on with the pics!
find the metal pieces, either scrap that you have or have a fab shop cut them out for you
I used my trusty $20 sawzall from harbor freight, lol
http://www.nclsllc.com/images/sc_ht/cut_base.jpg
next step (if drilling tapping) is to drill a set of holes approx 2½" distance from each other
http://www.nclsllc.com/images/sc_ht/drill_holes.jpg
next step is to aquire a 10-24 tap and a 5/32" drill bit. go slow and use some type of oil otherwise you will break the tap in the hole (Like I did :headwall) so, drill the hole and tap them carefully
http://www.nclsllc.com/images/sc_ht/drill_tap.jpg
when done with the last step you should be able to assemble the base as shown

Nope you've got it all wrong. Go away for a day and all Heck breaks out. Guess I should have used a nice :D
I was just posting a good jab at Nate's creative genius.
I had planned on having one new replacement motor for him when he came to Cleveland to pick up the spreaders and the U edge. Trouble was we used the last one I had Tue morning so I got his address and had 2 shipped to him.
I have to get some reostats for Meyer spreaders this week as the guys were out spreading Sat and burnt up the $200+ control boxes and don't want to buy new as the season is almost out and they are upgrading for next year.
p.s. Nate thanks for the small deflectors. They were a perfect fit for the 680 plow. I'll have to get you the dimensions for the top of the 810 so you can work on the other one.

So how do we know this will cost less than $35.00 when it is not finished yet?
Nice to add how-to-do's, but should it assume we all have an industrial do-it-yourself work shop? It would not be worth $35.00 if it takes three days of fab work. I know my gargage does not look like that which is shown in the pictures.
Nate, Maybe this is something you can produce and sell. I am already thinking about a vibrator system for the dump insert I would like to use for salt work, should a need arise.
