The old ladys Jeep liberty a/c is acting up. After you drive it for a little while with the a/c on, the vents will start to blow out (what looks like smoke) probably just super cold air. We need to know whats going on with this thing soon. We are leaving for Florida Sat.:(

This has happened twice in a week, so not every time

Ok is the A/C still shooting cold air when it starts to blow out the smoke looking stuff?????

Also has it been really humid in your area lately????

It could just be vapor coming off the evaporator

UPDATE:

So I'm back from Florida.

On the way down the car started getting hot. We stopped and changed the thermostat and flushed the system in Georgia. That worked for about a half hour then we were back to windows down heat on and 101* outside:mad: So took it to the dealer and did a preasure test and antifreeze was leeking out of the plastic part of the radiator. So That got fixed and six hundred bucks later (after the thermostat, 2 flushes, a radiator, and them dealer sticking one up my *%&$) we have good cold air and it worked fine the whole time there and back.

Drove it yesterday and the dam bearings went out on the air conditioning compressor:mad: So that will be about 250 tomorrow for parts and labor from my mechanic (thankfully that happened here)

This still doesn't explain the smokey air and hot air conditioning. My only guess is low fluid in the ac unit. We'll see when the new ones on and the system is recharged.

Only thing that isn't new as far as the rest of the coolant stuff is the waterpump. Let's cross our fingers and hope that survives another 50,000.

A low R-134 charge causes frost to form on the evaporator and
then it thaws...........causing the "smoke" coming out of the
dash vents.
Note that the "smoke" is cold!
