So if all goes well i want to prep to get into the snowplowing bussiness next year in my area.

I have one question thou. Once you have found places you want to plow how do you bid on the site. How do you know who to contact i dont think you just walk in to the building and say "Hi i would like to submit a bid on your parking lot for snow clearing who do i talk to" i dont think it works like that does it?

Most buildings here are not owner by a single person or the sign out front doesnt reflect who owns the property. I am talking strip malls and industrial buildings.

Can anyone point me in the right direction. ?

Thanks for the help,

Dave.

Go in and ask who is in charge of the snow removal for the property. It is usually handled by either the business themselves,or an outside management company.Get the information, and give them a call.

Ask for a bid spec sheet if they have one,and when they will tender bids or proposals. Some large management companies will give you all the locations and information for properties they would like to have bid on.A few even supply you with the written contract tey want you to agree upon.DON'T do it.Either re-write it,or modify it to suit your needs, and have your laywers look it over. Most of the pre-written contracts are only meant to protect them, not you.

If I want a certain property,I will take pictures and notes during the season,to help point out any possible problems with the current contractor. It helps being prepared.

Since your quite close, you will be dealing with very similar circumstances. If you have a fax,I can fax over a copy of what you would normally get from the property management company,so you know what to expect.I also have some bid sheets to help with pricing.
