I was looking at getting something like this, or even this one if it's good, for my cummins dodge...
So if this is good, I will get it, or what should I get.
I do not have one on the truck.
Price is not much of an issue, and the $25 for this was not price orientaed, just that it was easy to find a link for it, and I will just pick one up in town.

Seems like it should work. However at that price I would imagine the quality might me a little less than desired. The heating element would be the first to go. Just just guessing. At that price might be worth a try.......
I really love the block heater thats standard on our Ford Powerstrokes. Even at -15 degrees overnight, the temp gauge moves up a little when starting, and you have heat within a few miles. If you've never had an engine heater, you will be impressed on those real cold mornings.

I thought that they all came standard with a block heater, I've never seen one with out. They work real nice, as CPSS said. I left my cummins unplugged on a few real cold nights just to see how she would start. So far she fires right up with no trouble at all down to -18. Shure beats last season when I was running an IDI Ford, what a nightmare those are to start in the cold.

I thought the block heaters were standard too,I have never seen one without one.
I would go with the factory style heater, over the heater you mentioned above. The tank and circulation style heaters tend to burn out quickly, and need to be tapped into the block at the bottom to work correctly and prevent air pockets (which burns them out).

Thanks John I guess that's what I get for listening to the salesman. I should know by now. I can't believe they charge for a cord. I guess it's as bad as Ford taking away the hood blankets. Soon they will be charging us extra for air in the tires.

For those who live in the lower of of the US they never use the heater, the new HPCR 03 amd newer trucks start fine down to -25 easily even with 15w40 in them.
